From what I understand windows 7 does not support full features of DX12. Vulkan on the other hand does, Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
From what I recall MS stated win 10 as an OS was better optimized for multi core CPU allowing DX12 better performance on win 10 vs win 7. Not sure if DX12 on win 7 actually lacked features.

Hats off to W1zzard then, I stand corrected, still the 580 has matured better than the 1060 since release and has improved with driver versions, granted on the overall chart that only stands at 7% but it's still nevertheless a swing of 10+% to the 580 comparing it to the 1060 when they were new cards, again, wasn't the whole point of my post but I'm glad you feel the need to be so touchy about it, as you where girls. That said, AMD driver development for older cards is well known to be better than nvidias, take the 9 series that dropped off a cliff after the 10 series, I guess it was just a little point I was making but it's always got to turn into a fanboy thing, I'ma just leave this here, 580 within spitting distance of a 1070 in a lot of new titles tested in 2019, was all I was saying, no fanboy war needed :slap:

Video also shows many titles with a 20-30% gap, most notably the ones with sub 60 FPS.

So there goes your little theory, because Cyberpunk will also run along that range on these cards.

AMD fine wine only exists in the eyes of the beholder, its time to let go of that illusion. They just release them in a sorry state.

I am hopeful more than anything. Hopeful I don't have to wait until the beginning of the year to get a new gpu when they finally are in stock.....

The main story line in Cyberpunk2077 is suppose to be 10 hours shorter than the 51 hours for the Witcher 3.
a substantial number of players never managed to finish The Witcher 3's core path. Based on information from HowLongToBeat, it seems the average player takes around 51 hours to finish that segment of the game, without participating in any other side content.

51 hours may not seem like much to hardcore gamers, but for a more casual player -- which Cyberpunk 2077 has attracted plenty of, due to its astronomical hype -- it's probably at least 10 hours longer than they can handle before becoming bored or distracted by other games or life itself.

 51 hours, huh? It was more like 115 for me the first time...even longer the second time with total exploration and the DLC's. Who comes up wit these numbers? Because I don't understand how one can Role-play in an RPG, and just ignore over half of the world you are supposed to be playing in.

It's just the time for the main story. Not counting side quests, collectibles or exploration. If you go to HowLongToBeat.com, the stats for Witcher 3 are as follows: 51,5h for main story, 102h for main+extra and 172h for completionist. Which sounds about right.

But yeah, some people really do just the bare minimum to beat the game. And many still never even get to the end. That's why they're cutting it a little shorter, so more people finish the game. I'm sure they'll make up more side quests to make up for it though.

Going by the website howlongtobeat.com that's mentioned in the article.

The Witcher gear treasure hunts, and side quests had me immediately distracted on my first play through. The main storyline wasn't enough for me.

Good to see, if this is fact which I think it is, makes game more accessible to those without mega $ for hardware upgrades.
Also I can't believe in late 2020, folks are still talking about gaming on win 7!:rolleyes:

Translation : Main stories are hard to make so instead we're gonna give you those repetitive side missions which are much easier to design like in every other open world game these days.

This game is looking less and less impressive with each passing day, especially given that it was delayed for almost a year.

It is not surprising most games have older hardware requirements and most people don't buy the latest cpu/video cards and cpu have not advanced tremendously until relatively recently with ryzen. Video cards have not advanced that much espicially in 1080p gaming, just in 4k gaming. If you want to sell a video game you have to make sure it can run on a wide range of systems.

You're right but not all video game developers followed this path.

That is not true one of the reasons that AMD suffered in the GPU Wars was there was no reason to upgrade from Tahiti. I am sure there are still users rocking a 7900 series GPU because it is still supported in the latest API.

most people don't buy the latest cpu/video cards

Because as new cards release, bots buy them out so quick us regular guys can't. I'd be rocking a RTX3080 right now if not for those resellers.

Anyway, specs look fine to me. My PC won't have any issues but as much as I have been hyped for this game, I'm now not so sure. I watched some pretty recent game play and a lot of the open world seems pretty dead to me. The guy was driving around and didn't see people going about their lives or anything of the sort. Sure some spots had life but most didn't. Games like GTA5 make me feel like I am in a living world. If Cyberpunk does not provide that then I'll skip. As it is now, I want to wait for the release and watch some player game play. I hope I am wrong about this. It would be a shame.

I mean in terms of the cost after a certain period you can get new cards even if people have bought them up to exploit the demand, as far as I know you can get all the other video cards. There are even steam statistics on it and most people have cards a few years old.

I don't really go on gameplay videos, its not the same as playing it, it could be a disappointment but I think that it will be a good game,cd projket has made some excellent games.

Sure I can get the RTX3080 later for sure. I normally buy at release myself and this time I was not lucky. I check several times a week and my preferred vendor has not had any in stock. MY 1080 Ti is still rocken it though so i am fine for now. I skipped the 2080 Ti because I did not think the performance jump was worth it but it seems to be with the 3080.

As for gameplay, I totally love watching player's gameplay. I can totally get a feel for the game and determine if I will like it or not. I've been doing it for years and it has always worked well for me.
Witcher III was awesome. I have high hopes for Cyberpunk, but I have been burned enough times to realize waiting is sometimes the better option. The gameplay i watched looked cool but we'll see.

I’m glad that works well for you, truly. Different goals. For you it’s gameplay. For me, I want to experience everything for the first time, the world, the story, the characters. I love the child-like wonder I still feel in a new game world, because I get so immersed. If I were to watch streaming gameplay I would lose one of my great enjoyments of gaming.

I never watch streamers. I have never so far anyway. What i do is if I am on the fence about a game, I will head over the youtube and type in something like "Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay" and see what comes up. I'll look for a vid that came out after release and then watch a couple of minutes of the start, then forward it a bit to see a little here and there. This gives me a good feel for the game.

I most certainly do not do this on every game, only the ones I am not sure of. Games like GTA or The Witcher series or Elderscrolls, fallout etc, I would never watch gameplay for because I know I will like the game anyway.
