How is it Unigine's fault is ATI leaves out a feature?
It simply means they did not test their software on what ever drivers they are refering to.
As a software company that is just plain Negligence.

To be honest, I think they released it to coincide with nv's 256 and expected ATI to do the same and release 10.5. Only 10.5 has the OpenGL extension GL_ARB_tessellation_shader which is only supported in OpenGL4 on the 5 series.

No it isn't. They never guaranteed all features to work on all systems. It is ALWAYS up to the owner of the system to ensure compatibility. If ATI doesn't include the feature, there is not a damn thing Unigine can do about it. If anything, it's ATI's fault for leaving out a feature in software that the hardware is capable of.

There are damn things that Unigine can do, such as providing proper documentation.
Such as stating that such feature requires Cat 10.5.
And no you cannot hold ATi responsible for such feature that they have not advertised.
The HD5k series cards are advertised to be Microsoft DirectX11 compliant, and OpenGL 3.1 support.

Yeah but honestly I could really give a crap if it works on Heaven 2.0 or 2.1..... but when ATI says their cards are Microsoft DX11 Compatible and they can't play about half the games out there with tessellation enabled while in Crossfire.

That is a problem.... and that is something that ATI DID advertise..... and that ATI should fix!

If not that is false advertising if I ever saw it!!!

I agree with you to an extent, thus the reason I find ATI primarily to blame. Their crossfire drivers have been shit since 8.11.

I agree completely..... ATI has got to realize that while Crossfire owners are the minority..... we do spend the most money for our product on a per-individual basis. So when us the customers spend that much money on an investment.... we should be taken care of.

They also receive the most profit from the Crossfire buyers per-individual. Especially us High end and middle end crossfire buyers.

I feel like we should be taken care of much better.... then we are. Not necessarily better than everyone else... but we should be at least paid attention too as equals.

Because if a companies crown jewel setup (as they say) Can't work right... what does that say about the rest of that company?

I would also like to add a response to one guy from ATI who was having the exact same problem as I was with the exception the Brands on the video cards were different......

ATI Basically told him....Well it doesn't matter if you got your 5870 working as the slave card as long is the setup is working.... that is all that matters. So basically right there that says they don't care!

++++Edit++++ I also want to mention that I also wrote to ATI Later Last week. I will post their response here or fixes if they have one.

@20mmrain.
Try matching the memory clocks on both cards yourself at a MHz slightly under the card with the lowest default clocks. ie match the clocks with a slightly underclock.
some nvidia 400 sli users are experiancing the same error. This was their solution.

Thanks Bud.... I will give that a shot tomorrow.... I will report back with what happens.

I have tried to manually set the clocks on my 5870 to stock 5850 speeds but that didn't work..... But that doesn't mean that this..... the slightly lower mem clocks won't. I'll give it a try..

Try swapping out the two cards. This worked for me and for a lot of other people where a crossfire with a 5850 (two 5850 cards or a 5850 and another card) is involved.

Take a look at this thread:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=319171

Yeah bud.... I appreciate the advice.... but I already have done that.

You are right that does work but when a 5870 is involved with the 5850 .... it then seems that the 5870 is a waist of money.

Just had this happen to me with 2.5

I'm not running crossfire and 3Dmark11 and other DX11 games work. It just seems to be Unigine.
