What is considered too hot for d805 temp. Mine is overclocked to 3.9 ghz and is watercooled, asus pc probe says 50-55 deg. celcius under load(playing BF2)! I have got it into the 60-65 deg cel. range thought that was too hot so i turned the voltage down etc.. Any thoughts.

Computer has only been running for 3-4 weeks now, just finished! I live in northern California and it has been hot lately so i know thats part of the problem. I also have my radiator in my case (coolermaster-wave master) mounted on the botttom. I cut a 5 inch hole in the bottom of the case where the rad. is mounted so the heat can vent. The radiator has a custom built acrylic box as a housing with a 5 inch hole cut out of the top and a 120 mm 89cfm fan blowing the air out through the rad. and then the bottom of the case. I am not sure if the acrylic housing is helping me at all, but sure looks cool! i call it the "ice box"! LOL. I also have 3 80mm fans and 1 more 120mm if you include the power supply. System is completely stable and games excellent with all settings on high in (BF2).
Just curious if i should leave it alone or try to cool it off so i can squeeze more out of her.

try lapping the cpu block w/ 600 grit sandpaper and you should be able to squeeze a couple 100mhz more out of it also what vcore are you using now?

V-CORE 1.50
CPU FREQ-200
DDR2 800MHZ
MEMORY VOLTAGE (AUTO)
I turned up the settings to these last night and temps were still the same(no warmer than 54-55c.
What does lapping the water block do for cooling and how much does it help.Thanks.

the point in lapping the base is to provide a shinier, smoother, better finish by eliminating machine marks. machine pits are bad as they hamper thermal efficiency.
