ok, since december 07my liang ddr 3.2 has been gathering dust, tested ok in 07, but used under a few hours... never installed just tested...
now years later its not turning on with cable plugged into a hot molex on the old computer.. is it possible it not getting enough juice? I had good water, just did nothing... power verified.. but not the volts...
I did not unscrew it.... yet... previously I had my fans and pump on a seperate power loop...
new pump? ideas?

The pump should start with any voltage higher than 9v, so unless the voltage is really low, I doubt that is the problem.

It could be a lot of things. Things tend to break when in storage. Hot/Cold cycles could have made a solder join come loose. The motor might be seized from sitting for so long.

ok.. Im concerned if I manage to open it up and get it running if it will fail.. on the other hand sometime things are just stuck... I know close to nothing of the actual design of this.. but at dead I cannot kill it, hopefully a pump failure in a water loop would case a system shutdown.. God what a mess it would be to melt you system with a bad pump!!!
thanks

Basically, I wouldn't trust it either if you did get it running again, unless it was just something like a broken solder joint. Best to just put up the ~$80 to replace it or find a decent one used.

I am replacing it with a new pump, and if it resurrects I will use it for my fountain effect case mod...
thanks for the helpful advise..

Remember not to run any DDC pump dry, you will damage it irreparably.

When a DDC pump is first put into a loop and later taken out to sit for awhile, a person will need to take the pump cover off and pull out the impeller.

The impeller metal shell can react with tap water or mixed metals/flux in the loop. This will need to be cleaned off in a solution of distilled vinegar. Then add one or two drops of fine clear tooling oil to the white ceramic ball. Place the impeller back in the pump and reassemble. The pump should work unless the PCB shorted.

If you are looking for a replacement pump, there are new DDC-1T types available.

SUPER THANKS

fyi
tested pump had water, never was dry and powered thanks again to all

Ok Bmavrick I officially owe you a beer or drink of your choice. Internals looked perfect
Went back together and runs GREAT which it should with less than an hour system testing prior to storage
