55$ here, im looking to atleast 450w which is only huntkey atm

Seasonic's probably the largest most reputable retail psu maker, should be worth every penny...
But I'm very biased, after having owned a dreamy S12 myself years back and having a prime unit now...

Evga is a great brand too...
Their units might very well be oem's from seasonic, not that I know much about it... :D

Btw, Antec and silverstone are big industrial players on the psu market...

Haven’t had any issues with my PC receiving power from a EVGA 850 BQ. It’s three years old this month.

I had a zalman lasting years on end, it started giving me a weird coil noise while gaming, that's why changed psu's and i think the fan's became unreliable too...
It might even been working passive, I checked once and fan was dead, but did a test outside the case and it was working fine...

No doubts anyone who has worked with computers for awhile will have anecdotal tales of woes with power supplies causing problems.
Yet some power supplies tend to go up in smoke a lot more frequently than the others. You live in US, so I'll give you some familiar examples.
Why do you think Dynex and Rocketfish no longer sell rebranded crap?

We have a local brand similar to Dynex, which sells bottom of the barrel PSUs and PC accessories, and they are famous for being a literal fire hazard. One of my customers used to love these cheap PSUs of theirs for saving a few bucks on their call center PCs, until every single one of them started to die, some with smoke and fireworks. It only took a year for him to figure out that it's actually cheaper to spend $50-60 on Seasonic S12III with 5-year warranty than replace dead PSUs and burnt motherboards every few months.
There's also chinese Gamemax, which is also famous for high defect rate. I have about 150 units at my office just from one retailer (bought for $0.25/ea in mint condition, dead OOB).

Another thing you have to remember, is that just because PSUs is alive after all this time, it's going to work with modern system. Many pre-2000 chieftecs are still alive and kicking, but they are guaranteed to cause stability problems on anyhting newer than Haswell, even if you do a complete recap and cleanup. I get at least one case a week, where an "upgraded" PC has a PSU older than its owner. It kinda works, but ripple is so bad that all you see is BSODs as soon as you give it some load on 12V rail. Most no-name crap is based on those old PSU designs. That's why this Mercury PSU has ridiculously outdated stickers like "SLI-ready" and "Crossfire-ready", even though it's a thing of a past decade and most importantly it only has a single 6+2 pin. I wouldn't trust a PSU that has lies written all over it.

Guys which powersupply do you think is safer ? The Mercury one that i told you about or this lenovo one from a prebuilt
Definitely a LiteOn from Lenovo prebuilt. Real 80+ certification, real spec. More than enough for i3-9100f and GT1030.

Thanks, will change this PSU after 2 weeks i guess, but is it safe to keep it incase any pc has failed, just to test with it ?

Yes, keep it as a backup PSU. That's about the only viable use I can think of.

Got a great deal, changed BQ 650 model to Seasonic FOCUS GX 80+ gold 650w in the main PC, and changed the stupid Mercury with EVGA BQ 650, not bad eh ?

Your new psu will now outlast a few hardware generations...

So ive 2 computers main and 2nd one, so i have a powersupply which was Mercury CKP650M [http://mercury-pc.com/product/5077] Which i know its was a bad idea then i bought a new one which is Evga BQ 650w, So my question can i use the Mercury one for my 2nd low end system ? specs are i3 9100f, gt 1030, 4x2 gigs of ram, 1tb HDD and 4 case fans.

I have personally seen such low caliber PSUs failing with setups like Celeron G530 and no dedicated video card, so there is no guarantee it will work even with this setup.

Thanks for explaining, i really appreciate that, so basically its okay for like 1 to 2 months of use ?

You can also use it until smoke comes out. Then you're certain you've got maximum value out of it.

:pimp:

If you don't know, just be quiet.

PSU quality varies wildly per brand and underneath the sticker there is an OEM that truly made it, with a design that could be great or utterly shit.

Except it proved it could handle a far more demanding setup for three straight months - so whilst we still don't know how bad it really was, at least we know it wasn't that bad.

The one I was talking about also handled that setup - for about year and a half.

That's not a proof of anything. In fact it's a common cop out of folks who make thread about hw upgrade and get confronted about needing to upgrade PSU. "But it's been WoRkInG fOr X yEaRs, It'S gOoD, rIgHt?!"
Not to mention damage caused by e.g., excess ripple, if applicable, will usually not show up immediately, instead it will take some time for components to deteriorate till outright failure is reached.

Hey don't need to be agressive, in my defense, EVGA did or does work with Seasonic like many other brands do...

Its misleading to tell people asking for help you know things you really don't, isn't it? There's too much BS noise on this forum like that as it is. Not helpful.

Can you point me to the EVGA PSU that is built by Seasonic? I know they use Superflower, but never heard of them using Seasonic. The BQ is built by Andyson and generally considered standard fare at best.

No performance improvments ? if not, should i go with CORE GX ?

I think the Core is an older model (at least it isn't available in my country anymore) and it came with 7 years warranty, the Focus GX 650 comes with a 10 year warranty.
So its not worth it ? since its cheaper ?

I checked again, there are no prices(yet) of the Core GX 650 in my country, it seems it's a newer model it has an always active fan.
The Focux GX 650 has semi passive mode, which means the fan will stay off at low loads.
