Das Keyboard, the world leader in high-end mechanical keyboards, today announced updates to its 4C Tenkeyless Mechanical Keyboard for improved quality and efficiency. Designed without the traditional number pad, the 4C is Das Keyboard's most compact keyboard, and ideal for professionals using smaller workstations, home offices, or those that want more portability.

Originally released in 2015, the updated 4C now includes updated firmware along with PBT keycaps for added durability, and lubed, large keys that maximize smoothness for an improved tactile experience. Features include:
  • PBT Keycaps: New charcoal gray PBT keycaps have a higher density than ABS keycaps, and are set against a black aluminium top panel to create a modern, professional look. PBT keycaps do not wear over time.
  • Lubed Keys: Large keys that include the space bar, return, shift and caps lock are lubed by the manufacturer to silence the switch and increase smoothness at the actuation points, reducing friction.
  • Cherry MX Brown Switches: Now with gold-plated, Cherry MX Brown switches that provide long-lasting electrical contact and tactile feedback to allow users to execute keystrokes with speed and precision.
  • N-key rollover: Full NKRO support detects all keystrokes for fast typists.
  • Convenience Features: A 2-port USB 2.0 hub provides the ability to connect USB keys and charge phones, an extra-long (6.5 feet) cable for improved cable management, and a magnetically detachable footbar doubles as a ruler.

Das Keyboard 4C starts at $139 and is available in the US beginning May 11, 2020.

I really like how this one looks. Real shame it's not hot-swappable, as Mx Browns (IMO) are some of the worst switches out there.

That's a bit hyperbolic.
 
Ok, so, TKL keyboards are my preferred form factor and I use the volume and media keys fairly frequently. Ideally, dedicated buttons would be nice and I think Das could probably have utilized some of the space of that giant USB hub for such a thing but whatever, function keys are fine. I could see myself purchasing this except for one thing: why, why, why put the media keys on the opposite end of the keyboard as the Fn key!? You'll now need two hands to adjust volume or media. I keep seeing manufacturers do this and it just doesn't make any sense to me. Use the arrow keys or the Home/End/PgUp/PgDwn cluster, please.

There's nothing wrong with MX Browns, unless they're subjectively not your thing. They're my favorite switch.

How many switches have you tried?
 
The hub is a nice add-on but I'd rather see it be USB 3.0

that's only 6 switches vs the 100s that are available now. MX browns are not loved by many
 
What a horrible design. That front lip will dig right into your hands unless you use a wrist rest, and even then it's annoying.
You want the keys right up to the front edge, and preferably have a nice rounded edge there.
