DDR 2400 and raid 0 ssd's?

Lately i've been building $1k computers for graphics designers.

I got asked to step it up a notch. Smaller, faster, stronger. $$$ is barely an issue.


I'm trying to jam all this isn't a mini-ITX. I was running 32gb of DDR3 1600, but mini-itx motherboards are limited to 2x240. to make up for this I'm running 2 6.0gbs SSDs in raid 0.

Would it be worth it to go to DDR3 2400?

It's $30 more, so i will probably do it anyway. But what exactly is the benefit?

what cpu and chipset are you going with also want board
dedicated graphics ?

generally faster ram makes the system faster but there is other factors
fast ram shows the most if you are working with memory intensive programs (such as Autocad,vegas,photoshop,visualworks) but for the most part you hit otherwalls before you hit a memory speed wall (gpu power,cpu power,DISK IO)

with that Gpu/motherboard it won't matter
intel only officially supports DDR3 1600 anyway(on Z77) LGA2012 supports up to 1866 in both cases higher speed ram SHOULD work but there no guarantee
overclocking is gonna be pretty much out of the question on that board so you can lose the K version
if you wan't performance lose the ITX board the VRM's aren't as strong(weaker power delivery = no overclocking,let along the issues with cooling it) and expand-ability is a issue
now adays a lot of stuff is GPU accelerated(photoshop,video encoding,cad hell even your browser) anyway id go with a beefier GPU something in the Geforce 650 TI or even a 660 TI range [a GT640 with 2GB of vram is a Absurd idea] the core isn't fast enough to drive much of anything at beyond >720p waste of money the IGPU will handle CS:go just fine on medium settings Intel HD 4000 - CS:GO Gameplay - YouTube
TBH i would totally wait for HASWELL(ETA 4 wqeeks) as you will have some more options if size/heat-output is a concern
