I have recently noticed a small black spot on my screen. I thought it was a dead pixel but after taking some pictures i am not so sure.

Here is a picture of the led display zoomed:

Please tell me what that black spot seems to be as i haven't seen a dead pixel before so i don't really know how it looks like.

that looks like someone pointed at the screen and hit it
looks like the lcd got abit crushed try gently wiping it in slow circular motions else replace teh panel if it bothers you

Thanks for shedding some light. It's not bothering me that much as it is rather close to the edge of the screen unless it can spread, can it ?
I was also wondering if warranty would cover it?

depends on if someone actually hit it or not ... they don't usually spread as it does not look cracked

Yeah, it looks like the screen got physically damaged by something sharp, perhaps. It won't spread, fortunately.

Unfortunately, LCD screens are quite easily damaged, since most are made of plastic. My Iiyama monitor was perfect when I bought it, but now has an annoyingly visible nick in it, which I haven't a clue how it got there, since I'm really careful with it.

That's good news again :)

Sorry to hear about that as i am also rather careful around my laptop. I guess these things tend to happen ..
