I thought meh 3rd person like Resident evil this will suck but it is one of my favourite games.

i bought it when it came out and i got about 1 hr in and got bored.....lol its a good game, but i hate waiting for shit to shoot. im like COME ON!! just come get some, lol and its so easy

Then I suggest you pick that controller back up and try that for another 2 hours or so. Then when you get to the "Oh crap where is all the ammo I use to get" section, that tune will change. Mostly because that section is also called the rest of the game. The baby you for the first 3 chapters, then the game gets all, "We want to eat your soul on you." I will not even mention the Brutes and the Immortal Hunter.

gah, i liked RE5 once i got used to the controls. dead space is impossible with mouse and keyboard.

massive lag with Vsync on (which means no Vsync, which means no crossfire with my flicker issues)

without it, the mouse speed is erratic as fuck. turning speed changes randomly depending on where I'm looking, aim speed is different again, and the menu speed is twice as fast as them!

its maddening, i've managed 10 minutes so far and quit before i smashed my mouse on something.

thanks for the advice im currently in the progress of trying to beat some 80+ games, but ill put it and and play it for a couple hours and see how it is

I had no issue's with my ATI card so what was the issue you talk about ?.

yeah... i wanna play the first purely for the story, but the camera angle and dodgy mouse controls are hampering me.

its not scary when you cant see enemies cause some morons head is in the way, its annoying.

Dead Space suffers greatly from consoleitis. I bought it played the first few minutes of it and it's sat on the shelf ever since. If your a PC gamer and use the cursor keys or any other combo for that matter you can forget it. WASD only. Not configurable.

It can't suffer from consoleitis since it was developed for the pc then ported to the console's. I read an article by the lead developer of dead space.

that was the case with me,, , knew about this game for a while,, when first played while back liked it but same mouse issues and weird camera angle got to me faster then the game's goodness. But the pressure was building up.. hearing about it here and there kept reminding me of this awesome title. Up to 4th chapter or whatever it is in the game,, got used to mouse lag/spikes and camera .. enjoying very much,, btw all the diff weapons and upgrade paths are keeping you busy and interested

That's another thing that annoyed me about it lol. I used the Fang in this case which is the only reason i played it so long.

Well they dumbed it down to the level of a Console.

EDIT: Which makes me think of OFP RS as they removed leaning in the PC version although you see the AI do it all the time lol.

PC versions and 360 versions might as well be the same, since they limit it to the 360's abilities. why do you think the controls suck so bad, unless you have a 360 gamepad?

Actually, I think the sloppy controls kinda added to the anxiety of the whole game. Not only did shit jump out and charge at you, but to kill them you had to pinpoint arms and legs instead of the easy center-mass shot. Add to that the fact that said arms and legs are usually flailing about and already difficult to get steady aim at... the erratic controls just made controlled shots all the more challenging which really got my heart pumping. Add on to that the fact that ammo gets sparse later in the game and it just gets even more stressful when you have to make every shot count but still have to fight with oh-so-delicate aiming controls.

I've beat the game multiple times with a mouse and keyboard and I am by no means even close to being a "good" gamer.

Exactly! You DO get used to the controls and learn to accept that it is a different aiming method than FPS games you are used to. The whole point of this game was to make you uneasy. Perhaps the odd aiming controls were intentional so it is not just as simple as plop down and go tearing ass through the levels like you do with so many other shooter games.

For those of you that haven't yet played the first one... I HIGHLY recommend playing in the dark, alone, and with surround sound. Sleep deprived and jacked up on caffine is a plus too.

That's exactly how I played it, one of my all time favourite games. Really looking forward to the 2nd one. Hope they improve on the controls.

You do have a very good point, it did add to whole thing. I hated using a controller so I stuck to my mouse & KB. Still, with or without improved controls I'll be buying it as soon as it's released!

What does the holiday inn have to do with dead space ?

Anyway I wholeheartedly disagree it was designed as a pc game with built in controls for the xbox controller and they added PS3 control's for their version. That said there is no problem with the game simply because it has been ported to the console. No-one complained of console ports before the xbox and the ps3 I don't understand what the problem is. As always the first few games are crappy because the software for converting it into each format was in its early stages and it eventually matures.

Yeah that was rather scary. I think it was the sounds that made it so scary because there are alot of noises that make you jump and also some that mask the noise of the necromorphs and they sneak up on your and pummel your rectum.
