I don't know why it's been in the news recently, but at least in the United States ,companies haven't had a right to tell consumers where or when or by who they have their products serviced . My guess is some yuppie figured it out and realized there's been a Law making this practice illegal for 40 years & just started catching up with the rest of the informed. The United States has had a law in place since the mid-70s protecting buyers from " void if removed" stickers. You'll need to find out what your particular country's laws are in regards to buyer protection . Generally even in the United States, these companies will try their best to hold their ground even though it's technically illegal to do so, because they know the chances of a consumer going through the process of hiring an attorney and taking them to court is pretty slim over a $300 video card.

I will say one thing positive about this buyer protection law coming into the news recently that is positive. For a long time I've had my fair share of arguments with fellow enthusiasts trying my best to convince them they can work on their own devices, and much to my surprise people tenuously grasp their ignorance of their rights so much so they're willing to pay to maintain that ignorance. It feels nice to be vindicated after so long

my guess is you made their day by changing that Thermal paste. They would have had to replace that GPU otherwise. Unfortunatley, this is one of those cases of "you shouldve, but you didnt, so your stuck", unfortunately.

sorry for the bad news

does the GPU not work? what is the reason for the RMa?

The GPU works, but when i put heavy games on it, i get a white screen and freezes my pc completely...

I think you need to run a monitor program while running a game , something like MSI afterburner. That way you can get an idea of what your temperatures are, you can also get an idea of what may or may not be reaching maximum limits . For all you know ,it may just require a voltage tweak. Or if someone owned it before you, they could have flashed a bad BIOS , both of which can be resolved with some time and effort

Good luck with Gigabyte, if you send it back again they'll probably just damage the PCB and claim you did it or it happened during shipping and you packaged it poorly. Gigabyte has easily the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
