Dell 580 upgrade

After getting a retro Core to duo PC from eBAY which did not work out as the PSU has stoped working.I have decided to upgrade my DELL 580 and make that a XP retro PC.Now that i know i can work on PC,s i was not very confident i could do it but i am now.

It is possible to install XP onto first generation machines like this.

I have a Dell 570 (the AMD version) and after upgrading it became a gaming PC for my Son, running Windows 10. The 570 has a stated maximum of 8GB but can run 16GB; the same may be true of the 580, possibly after a BIOS update.

Yes it is does ,Did you upgrade the PSU if so what one did you use?i will go for a 500w one And was it a normal sized one.I will use it as XP RETRO like the that old PC i bought on eBAY.It was a hell of a job to get that CPU heatsink fan in there,i am just glad i managed to get it back in there. it took me ages.As i have to send it back.I have no idea why it does not work.

Wow never heared of anyone doing that.

Perhaps I exaggerate; I changed the secondary capacitors and oiled the fan. It was pre-emptive, so nothing needed fixing. I don't recommend it as the primary capacitors can hold a dangerous charge.

I just tried my DELL580 you can hardly hear it like my IMAC is about the same.
I should think that old PC.s PSU was on the way out.
I just tried to start a return with eBay they want pictures.How can you show a picture of a PC that does not work?

If it is just the power supply, which you can find out by using another, it might be worth keeping.

I have had times when ebay would not accept back an item I received broken.

Realy i thought they were allways in farvour of the buyer?You must have been one of the few buyers lthat lost there case.If it was broken you should have recived a refund.Unless you left it after the peried you can send it back.The seller of this PC gives 30 days.

Yes you are right there,I was going to tell the seller ,but i have done it before with no luck.
There a lot of scammer s like this buyer

the buyer sent a puppet duck ,instead of amazon Kindle?I know you can get away with sending any old crap back on a return on Amazon because they don,t check.The seller sent me a message asking me if there is no power ,i said there was no power in my message to eBay.
