Dell continues to celebrate a season of design and discovery with the unveiling of the (PRODUCT) RED artwork for the Dell Studio laptops. This artwork exemplifies the unique visions of artists passionate about fighting AIDS in Africa. Today’s announcement expands on the Dell Art House offerings, and allows users to celebrate their personal style, while supporting The Global Fund’s fight against AIDS. The Dell Studio 15 starts at $649 and the Dell Studio 17 starts at $799 – these laptops can be personalized with (PRODUCT) RED artwork or Dell’s other popular Art House designs by Mike Ming.

I have a studio 17 (ive had it for a good month now, so this must be kina old news right?) I orderd mine in plain black. Ive got to say I do like the artwork on the the first couple but I just dont think it goes on a laptop. Think how bored you would get of it? my opinion anyway...

WOW! Shine within was REALLY cool!
I think we will see more of this, IMO people are tired of either gray/black or apple white.

Didn't it start with some Mtv laptop art?

it would be much better if art work goes not just on the back of LCD but also inside, around the keyboard. otherwise, you don't even see it most of the time

I think its fine just on the back of the case. I wouldnt want all the visual noise distracting me while I work. I think it would look pretty naff on the inside.

While I wouldnt want a "designer" coloured case that looks like a british airways tailfin from the 90's, I think it would be great for the kids, or when hotdesking... just for ID purposes.

“Dell continually innovates through offering unique ways for people to pursue their passions and express their individual style,”
Shame they havent updated their overall 'generic' platform. its like all the manufacturers are dumping all their T8xxx & T9xxx cpu's on them - same with the gpu department - a mid-range XPS 1530 sports a 8600m GT - why cant they roll with the times & update to a 9600m GT??

even if you pay top dollar for one of their top spec laptops you still get the same choices for CPU's no P7350's or P8400's etc etc. forget what the laptop looks like on the outside - its no good looking good if it hasnt got balls.

when all other retailers have kitted their laptops with Pxxx cpu's & Nvidia 9600m GT's theres very little reason to buy from Dell as your the same price for one of Dells laptops - you can get a more upto date one.

Dell are losing focus of the REAL issue - keeping their kit upto date.

ehhh the artwork is good and all but i think i'd rather go for a simple one just so that i don't get bored and sick of one design.

you could do your own paint job once the laptops arrived anyway - just make sure you cover up all the vents & gaps properly so u dont void your warranty (does spray painting your laptop void warranty even though its done by a professional????)
