There is nothing quite like ordering a $400,000 fibre channel Compellent San only to have one of THEIR engineers call you to tell you that they didnt put enough fibre ports on the switches it comes with - they put 8 and you needed 12.

Then after you unwrap and break down the pallet, you find that there are 4 fiber cables in the entire package.

They'll come over and fix everything for you in a few days... IF you bought the $50,000/year warranty.

figures, we just get new documentation on all of the servers we ship to clients. Took 5 months to get the damned tech guides through marketing and boom dell lauches new models due out next month.

1 week of testing, designing
1 week of technical writer conferences
5 month hang up in marketing (because all "customer facing" documents must go through them, whether or not ITs give 2 craps about the proper logos)

all for a 3-4 week run time before the next set of docs need to be out.
