Deodorant & Antiperspirant - Damage Components?

Well guys, what do you think?

For years now i've been using 'SURE' antiperspirant, which is the whiter, thicker variant of deodorant. Whenever i put this stuff on, my room fills up with a mini cloud of the stuff for a short period of time, no matter how much you use. Now, like i said, i been using this stuff for ages and for ages i have noticed this stuff settles like dust. Thick white dust. Whenever i clean my room, i can trail my finger along a line of dust and every time it will smell like my antiperspirant. On to my computer... Whenever i open my baby up for a clean, after i haven't cleaned it out for a while, i can trail my finger along the dust at the bottom of the case and low and behold, it smells of that damn antiperspirant! Also, if i take out my graphics card and blow into the heat sync to clear out the clogged up dust, it smells of that stuff!

Now if this shit settles so much, gets into components and fans and god knows where else, how damaging can this stuff be for computer components? And i know im not the only one who uses deodorant, so this could be effecting a wide range of people!

Up till now i've just shrugged it off, but what if it is actually doing a lot of harm to my system?

What do you guys think?

I can't imagine it being less harmful than dust, so I would treat it at least as such. On the other hand, it's probably a bit stickier than dust, and if it gets caked on thick enough, it's gonna start hindering stuff. Stuck in fans, dust can cause video card artifacts, etc.

Plus it's not normal and it's alarming, so get better deodorant! (I can only use Old Spice High Endurance because it lasts the longest, and it's not powdery)

I think you need to get a STICK of deodorant instead of a spray bottle .

The worst my stick of Sure has ever done to me is made me smell like a tube of Elmer's glue. And that kind of thing gets all the meth chicks, so I don't think it's all that bad .

If you wanna turn a lady's nose, get the After Hours body wash from Old Spice. They now have a matching deodorant. My girlfriend loves the smell.

But those sticks suck, you roll 'em on then 30 minutes later you'll need to top it up! Not saying im some kind of sweaty betty here but i think you know what i mean?

You're not using the right stick then. Try the Old Spice High Endurance. I've tried many sticks, and it's the only one that keeps me from smelling like a guy. I can apply at 7am and I smell just fine when I get into bed at 11pm.

Granted, I have an office job and I'm not a sweaty person.

I used to use Lynx back in the day but everyone round here thinks its tacky for some reason, no offense to you mate! Besides its more like a body spray, it doesn't prevent you from sweating.

ANYWAY! This thread isn't about what body spray we blokes use, its about deodorant damaging our previous hardware!

Well i'd like to see some other peoples opinions on the matter too.

Feh. I used to put mine on in my room 'cause that's where I get dressed. I don't like putting it on until I have a shirt on, otherwise I'll get it all over the shirt.

Since the girlfriend moved in, I get as dressed as I can in the bathroom 'cause she gets to sleep longer. I put on at least my undershirt in the bathroom, so I apply deodorant in there as well.

I would say its more harmful to your lungs than your hardware! I really wouldnt worry about it!

Anti-persperent does prevent sweating, thats what its designed for, it contains aluminimun which helps block your pores!

It doesn't prevent it 100%. It's mostly designed to keep your armpits dry to hinder the growth of odor-causing bacteria.

It's actually aluminum phosphate, which is frowned upon by many people because it's thought to increase one's risk of Alzheimer's.
