No wonder it's bundled with old hardware. I'll wait till it's on sale... like dirt cheap.

Im playing it and its not noticeable for me because im playing lock 75fps vsync (max monitor refresh rate, highest cpu usage is around 70% so far, 3770k 4.2ghz), and probably the only folks who would notice are cpu limited ones

It looks like there was a semi-hidden Denuvo-free DMC5.exe you could download from Steam(if you knew where to find it) to replace the one with Denuvo in your game folder. Which yielded slightly higher FPS performance and better stability...allegedly. But they caught on to it pretty quick and it's gone. From Steam anyway. But surely many still have the file. And it will show up for download somewhere else soon enough.

Other than that...move along folks...nothing to see here.

most of us have 144hz monitors tho. 75 vs 95 fps IS VERY NOTICEABLE
Is RE engine tolerable on fps higher than 60? I remember on other engines, anything beyond 60fps introduces weird physics and damage values, dark souls 2 comes to mind whetr weapon degradation is faster when you have higher fps and re engine itself in re2 makes the knife very powerful when running at high fps, useful for some speedrunners.

companies test for this now... Vanquish was like the last game to mess up at high refresh, and they patched it, but the companies know many people have high refresh now.

This was the news I was expecting to see when I saw DMC5 on the front page today.

Elephant in the room issue aside, I wonder what the ratio of people with 60+ Hz monitors are relative to those who don't...

i dunno, but go to newegg - sort monitors with gaming monitors and best selling - almost all of them are 144hz
not best rated - best selling - steam hardware stats are outdated imo and don't represent the majority

Steam polls people’s hardware several times per year. Don’t be fooled by what is available to buy by enthusiasts. Pay attention to what actually sells in large numbers, usually without any fanfare. Most people, even gamers, aren’t enthusiasts.

and those that game alot dont necessarily care about 144hz. I run 2k IPS displays and they dont go over like 70 (overclcoked). Not alot of IPS displays can and yet when we have an IPS thread alot of people share experience.

To add to it most people that play games that could utilize it that I know atleast personally dont even know the difference between TN or IPS etc etc.

Assuming they are more focus on pc, consoles for now are more on 60fps and most engines target that, other than fps focused ones such as battlefield frostbite and CS GO and maybe them battle royale games. Was skyrim and other creation/gamebryo engine patched yet? i remember their physics go haywire in higher fps, i dont remember if dark souls 2 addressed it and Resident Evil 2 remake still seems to have that high damage exploit (i think RE7 has similar high fps exploit)

really we are living in a golden age of computer gaming imo, but only for mainstream not enthusiast. I mean seriously, look at the new Intel 9400 6 core 4.1 ghz - $160 + a 1660 Ti for $280, some cheap 3000 ram, - cheap z390 mobo for $120 ---and a 144hz VA panel 24" 1080p - with gsync now being free even on freesync monitors... i mean seriously, you are talking a killer rig for cheap... power supplies are still pretty cheap, etc.

dark souls 2 is capped at 60 fps even on high refresh monitors, no way around it as far as I am aware. so not sure what you mean. i play card games like hearthstone and magic the gathering, and no motion blur experience at 144 fps 144hz is still much more immersive and pleasurable to my eyes. yeah its not a big deal. but its my life and its what i want. /shrug

Killer rigs indeed if we are using PS4 and xbone as baseline since majority of games are still being developed based on those, once the next gen appears things could change but may take a while before devs take advantage of it

Dark souls 2 was around 30fps on ps3 and xbox 360 back then originally if i recall correctly, and it was only on PC that was beyond 30fps and didnt account for the increase framerate on PC that would mess up things.
Indeed ive experienced 144hz monitors and the fluidity feels good, even in my case switching from 60hz to 75hz made some noticeable difference. I would have gotten them 144hz if they area in IPS since i also draw on my computer and want better IQ and i prefer IPS over TN for this, though are there monitors now that are 144hz IPS/oled? its been a while since i last bought a monitor

Best selling...if you are buying a new monitor, why not spend a little extra?
Most used...no bloody way!
I'm still on a 7 year old Dell monitor and a 280X. Like a lot of people, I'll upgrade when needed, not just because.
I'd love to upgrade, but my Suzuki needs a new fairing, I've just bought another mechanical wristwatch and I have to afford food as well.
A lot of people on these forums seems to forget that they are a (very small) minority amongst computer users...hell, most computer geeks can't afford to keep upgrading to the latest bling. We'll run our hardware in to the ground and upgrade when it breaks, even though we'd love to have the latest and greatest.

the difference this time is that 20 fps is actually quite a big difference. like i said even 75 fps to 95 fps is very noticeable, and much smoother experience imo. after 90hz diminishing returns kick in pretty hard, but 60 to 75 is nice leap, and 75 to 90 is the biggest leap. 90 fps 90hz is the sweet spot. so imo... shame on Capcom for 20 fps hit.

it all depends on your hobbies though really, like your Suzuki hobby does not interest me, and I really prefer gaming only mostly so I have no issue being a part of the very small niche.

also that is counter to my argument anyway, my point was - very little money gets you a PC that can max out games at 90+fps and you are only looking at $600 plus $180 for the monitor 144hz VA curved

imo that is very fair pricing. (ram is down now finally I mean so it makes all of this much more reasonable)

Steam hardware stats are constantly updated.

Best selling does not equate to most widely used. Most people buying something doesn't mean most people are using it.

ie. Most TV's being sold are 4K, but many people are still using TV's they bought years ago. Things being purchased and things being used are completely different statistics.

Also more laptops are being sold than desktops.

Laptops rarely have displays over 60 hz.

What does sorting on newegg have to do with the disparity between what's being sold and what's being used?

Your response literally makes no sense at all.

I didn't reference anything from Newegg, at all. You did. I merely stated that seeing what is being sold isn't relevant when it comes to what is being used, as well as referencing that laptops have superior market share to desktops - which they do.

because my original post was referring to newegg. and sorting from newegg when using advanced method, is a very good way to determine the best selling items out there.
