Anyone else excited for DMCV?? This is my 4th game I have actually paid out retail price for on PC as I am really excited to play and slay some demons.

Story so far as told by Capcom:

Plot??

Sparda a demon knight fell in love and made love with a human named Eva and defended the human world and impregnate Eva and gave birth to twins, Vergil the oldest and Dante the youngest.
Both have cocky attitude which probably stems from being a half demon, both love a good fight, Dante fights for money and for fun while Vergil wants to follow in Sparda footsteps in wanting more power but also conquer the demon world.
Dante seals the demon king Mundus with the help of Trish(she looks near identical to Eva) and fights his brother Nero that has transformed into Nelo Angelo.
Dante has made many friends such as Lady from DMC3 and Trish from DMC1.
Vergil somehow escapes the demon world and impregnates a human which gave birth to a 1/4 demon Nero which makes Dante his uncle.
Nero joins a cult that worships Sparda and falls in love with one of the disciple named Kyrie, she gets captured by the same organisation and goes on crazy mission to rescue her.

I'm hyped myself, playthrough 1,3 and 4 to get myself up to speed on plot. Not touching that horrible dmc2 though.

I haven’t played one in years, you know of any catch ups I can read? Maybe throw it in the OP? If you played them then maybe you would be best to say it’s a good resource.

Definitely want to check this out. From the series I only played DmC: Devil May Cry and it was very entertaining. I don't think that one had any connection with the first games though (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but this one seems like it does.

Should one play the first games before this one? I see there's an HD remake available for PC. Anyone knows if it's any good?

The DmC: Devil May Cry was meant to be a reboot for the franchise and it was given to a completely different studio to work on(Team ninja theory), not many people liked the change of character and plot but enjoyed the nice change of gameplay.
The DmC essentially takes place where the original DMC3 takes place.
As for the HD collection, its a very good collection which runs very smooth and not demanding to run at all. I would recommend playing DMC1 and 3 to get up to speed, though dmc3 is a prequel in timeline it is better to play the games in the order of release as DMC3 improves the gameplay mechanics from DMC1 and if you jump on 3 then 1 you might not enjoy the gameplay as much.

I don't recommend 2 as it was developed by different team which led it to have a poor gameplay mechanics and it is kind of a game that doesn't get acknowledged by fans.
The official chronologically order of the games now goes:

DMC 4
DMC 2
DMC 5

Yeah that was pretty much how I approached it but I do find the story entertaining.

I'd still start with DMC 1 to be honest. The game has expanded upon gameplay mechanics/arsenal and starting with DMC1 is the natural order of that progression. If you play it later, it will feel 'limited'. DMC3 for example offers multiple characters to play, many more weapon and upgrade options and is simply bigger. That said, I still feel DMC1 offers some of the coolest weapons, most notably Ifrit. So satisfying to use, I still remember it to this day (Played it on PS2)

I managed to pre-load but the DLC wouldnt DL. I booted my rig this AM before I left so they would DL. but now im at work. And Fridays are board meetings so I dont get out until very late.

It's awesome, the mother and father of hack n slash games. Looks great and runs great with the 2060 on 4k.

I am now on Mission 9,loving it so far i'm happy there are added new combos for Nero and V is interesting character to play.

Tried not to use a controller, but for hack and slash games like this, a controller's a must have. Playing and enjoying it somewhat with a MS 360 controller for PC.....didn't have to buy it as I've had it for a while now, gathering dust in my storeroom.

I'm playing it with a PS4 controller using DS4Windows but the game automatically detect it if you have the 360 drivers installed and use it as a 360/Xbone controller.
Currently on mission 13 now,trying playthrough as quickly and fun as possible as my youtube feed is just filled with d*ckheads posting all cut-scenes.

The combat is more or less same but slightly more faster pace and different mechanics based on the character you control as you do play more than 1 in 5.
