The image quality is what gets better along with features that give a number of flat objects more life.

Sorry to crash the thread a bit, what is the existing different in quality between ATI and Nvidia cards in DX9 and DX10? Does one of them produce better image quality in games?

Well it's not only Dx11 but also to ability to use up to 3 monitors on an single card with eyefinity real easy to use & works with anything since it's not the same way as crossfire or sli used to do it.

i noticed from all the DX generations that the most noticeable change occurs on the bump mapping, i did notice Depth of Field on dx11 though.....other than that "yey bumpier textures...."

Ah, mailman, the real Eric Cartman of TPU.

Those pics binge presented show the DX11 advantage pretty good. In my opinion a real step forward. I was actually wondering how DX11 looks exactly, too. I ordered my 5850 before I saw this thread anyway tho:p

You are going to love it man. What brand did you get?

Sapphire. Good idea or should I unorder? I have two Sapphire 4890s, and they're pretty good cards, so I figured these would be aswell.

I don't think you can make a blanket statement like "Nvidia has better IQ" across the board, especially anymore. I am a long time ATI user who presently has a Nvidia card as I wanted to test such for myself and play with different drivers. There are certainly some games such as Risen where Nvidia looks all around better. It's game by game though.

HIS and Sapphire both use reference design, no? Shouldn't be too much of a difference then. I wonder why the XFX 5850 is almost 80 bucks more than the Sapphire one.

I agree. BF2 looks way better on an Nvidia card where Prey looks better on an ATI.

Because its XFX. No other reason.

I still laugh at them for selling a card named XFX XXX GTX2** (forgot which one exactly). I mean 6 X, or 2 times XXX, wait maybe it makes sense afterall.

Anywho, I'm excited about DX11. It looks so much different than 10.

.

I'm still laughing that they make an XFX 5850 Black Edition.

I mean isn't the whole point of a 5850 that it has some streaming units disabled due to manufacturing problems?

Yeah though I admit to being a bit surprised at how much better some games look on my NV card, especially Risen which looked pretty great before on my 4870. Ran around a bit in FO3 as well and it was pretty noticeable in that game too. Facial texture sharpness and detail especially. Being developed on NV hardware certainly makes a difference I would assume.
