Yeah, Blizzard recently came out with that requirement. I guess it's to keep the integrity of the real money auction house and to prevent people from hacking/duping items.

then its not an open beta.. open means anyone is eligible.. closed means its invite based...

you still have to be chosen.. just because you opted in doesnt mean your playing

True, what I meant was to establis the fact that anything prior to this was F&F, and now its "open" to the puclic via invites being dealt out...in either case, begin checking your emails if you live in the US and have opted in

I wouldn't check emails, I would literally just check your bnet account now and then, it's the safest method. But I don't think many invites are out yet, invites are so scarce that they haven't sent out any as promotional invites for websites.

^ thats what blizz say, if you get an email dont click the links, just log in to Bnet and go from there.

According to the forums D3 Beta Invites were only really sent to members of the press. I know dozens of people who were opted-in and haven't gotten an invite (and nobody who has). So either they invited a few hundred people or so, or they are as most places have noted, still only inviting a select number of people--generally press.
