Just seen this on their official facebook page:
Video with some gameplay in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YEX9fsRs3g&feature=player_embedded
i still think dirt 2 looks better then any other racing game- maybe not the most realistic but the nicest, and i hope its as well optimized as well even my gts 250 can do max setting at 60 fps
I just hope they get it right this time.
Rallying is not Ken Bock (definitely*), fancy graphics and audio != Realism.
Since the 1st DiRT, it has been CMR - "Rallying for those who don't know sh!t about it (e.g. Americans).".
*As in, the guy mostly knows how to do drifts, bootleg-turns and burnouts with 600bhp modified cars. Lats time I checked, WRC regulation used 2.0l turbocharged 300bhp cars and now 1.6l turbocharged cars with around 280bhp.
I'd really like to see a more realistic handle of the car. The last two DiRT left something to be desired.
Even though it said pre alpha, some of the textures look as though they were just imported from Dirt 2 with no improvement, it seemed as though only the cars got any kind of visual upgrade.
It will have low requirements as it will also be on consoles, so it will be dumbed down.
this is for console right?
Yeah I am sure it will be like Dirt where they make PS3 and Xbox versions, and then PC gamers get a dumbed down version that is a crappy console port version 2 months or so later.
You ever rally raced? I did in Baja five years ago. I thought they did a good job with the car handling physics. I find it funny that someone gets their ideas about what Americans percieve about rally racing from a video game.
I've driven a fast car trough a dirt road in a forest, does that count?
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it could be improved/tweaked to give that kick feeling that was missing, imo.
About the Americans comment, you did see the "</trolling>" didn't you?
What they should have done was developed Racedriver Grid. I'm not seeing anything in particular that differentiate itself from Dirt2. And I've already played that.
No wonder I never beat you there
About realistic handling.. I that admit that I never was into racing games - what got me into Dirt2 (apart from getting the game free with my graphics card) were the great graphics, and the way the car responded realistically to my keyboard commands.
Heck, I almost miss having cursor keys on the dashboard of my car IRL...
Btw, check this out...
Gymkhana mode seems fun.
Also I've heard they included some Scandinavian snow stages to which I can say in all honesty:
I mean gravel and dirt is cool and all, but driving on snow is just awesome. How they could not have that implemented sooner is beyond me.
Anyways I'll be getting that game for sure. And as long as they don't shove Kenny in your face all the time like in Dirt 2 its gonna be a decent game.
I just hope they include pre-2008 Subaru Imprezas, too...
looks like they pushed it back as it was predicted the beginning of Q2 so early april
I see you trollin'. You hatin' bro. Naw, I couldn't stand the "xtreme Americanized" crap in the game either.
I personally did enjoy the game play of Dirt 2, but it felt like half of a game, and left me wanting more, and I hoped for some DLC or added content of some kind it never came. So I have high hopes but low expectations for Dirt 3.
I would rather wait than get a game that really needed another 6 months of development.
Great looks like we are going to have a dumbed down graphics version due to consoles?
If they do that, they could at least make a real effort to stop exploits being used in online game play.
Sick of the high percentage of Russians and Ukraines going around bouncing off walls, wall riding ensenada without slow down and when I beat them they go "HOW????" "chitter!" and have "fair ply plz" in their GFWL motto.
I know there is nothing that can be done about the clowns who Alt-F4 so they don't lose but at least make an effort so they can not use modified cheat engines.
They do need to police the online matches.
So, in-game screens show a Sport quattro, Kris Meeke's 207, a Lancia Fluvia and Block's Fiesta. Countries so far, Kenya, Sweeden (Snow stage) and I don't know what kind of country is the one where the Audi is in.
If they included this, as a sticker for the card, it would be a neat feature.
They say it's going to have more cars and more locations than every other game in the series. If the beat the number of rally cars that was in CMR2005, I will be very inclined to buy this.
better buy the xbox360 version.
Where do you get that from?
All I know is they better have at least 3 Lancia's.
Because that's what happens with every console port, PC's get console graphics.
considered dirt 2 had dx11 graphics and they developed this for the pc i dont think we will see dumbed down graphics...
From the video I saw, it looked as though the textures for the dirt water and roads, all looked as though they were ripped straight from Dirt 2, given it was "pre-alpha" but still my expectation is almost nil, I will still play it though for sure.
Also I'll be happy if we at least get the same release date this time around not one that is 2 months after the consoles.
codemasters have a very very good car based game engine in ego3 poss better for dirt3 its not going to be a port in the same way as other games the pc game engine is well built to use pc specs and i doubt theyve ditched it iim very much looking forward to this but can we have the actual rallying back many hated DIrt as much as dirt 2 for its americanism but i hated dirt 2 because unlike dirt it had no proper rally championship i didnt buy the soddin rally game of rally games to have a taster of rallyin
