Have had various issues with their products through the years, but I did occasionally buy their stuff nonetheless.
Why? The masses.. with so many people owning your exact model of GPU, mobo, etc, advice/tips were easy to find online. Yes folks, for people like me, this does matter sadly. Can't have an expertise in every field you delve in, now can you? Not enough time.

As to the issues? RAMs stuck in their sockets due to heat (so I think), irremovable. Capacitors failing within months. Headers broken, bent or literally in danger of detaching themselves without extreme caution. Poor quality material build in even high-end products. Could go on.

Have had some issues recently with a Gigabyte mobo, apparently at that range they cannot handle four sticks of RAM, so once again, I thought let's get an Asus mobo.. idiots. Idiots never learn, lol
So here I am, with an x99 deluxe ii, seconds before I do something fun with it; namely take it out back and smash it to pieces. Got to get my kicks somehow right? :)

1) It cannot drive recent NVMes as PCIe 3.0. Yes yes, I have seen and read what you have. It-does-not.
2) It cannot OC even half as good as my 150 bucks cheaper gigabyte mobo (same CPU, same voltage values, won't even post. Same CPU, significantly higher voltage values, won't even post. Asus quality man, but hey, we have leds on the board! Dem lightz mon!!11)
3) It cannot do either of the above that, again, the cheaper gigabyte can, but it does cost about 150 bucks more.

Last time I ever go near this brand. Like really this time. So long and thanks for all the fish. Was rotten and smelly (as all fish coming from Lutetia in oxen carts is), but it did come, lol

Not sure what i'll do at this point.. anyway, rant is over; nothing to see here folks!

What Are You Talking about?????.

1. Specs say m.2 runs at 32gbps (pcie 3.0 4x)... what's your issue?
2. I'm betting something else changed... my suggestion is to make sure your bios is updated to the latest version and try again. That said, it is quite common to see different voltage values needed across different boards. It can have something to do with the vrms. Just because a board is more expensive, doesn't mean the money went I to the vrms!!!!!

I hate rants... especially when it's PEBKAC.

Ram stuck in slot because of heat...lololol... made my morning!

Really.. as I said in your help thread.... call asus amd have them assist on the m.2.

Not having proper expectations on how things work tend to dissolve into rants lIke this. As I said, every board is different on the same cpu as far as voltage etc. Just depends on what vrm components were used in each board. Just because it costs more, doesn't mean money was put there. ;)

Caps go bad, headers get broken.. I can google that on ANY board and get hits... come on now! :)

Did you update to the latest bios (1401 is the latest)??? Or.......?

I've been building computers since I was 5. I'm 22 now, and I feel as old as the bible. I've seen and did so much in my life I've practically burnt out on life. Hell I can barely stand playing video games anymore since I was doing that since I was a toddler. Stuff gets boring so easily, I bet the day after I build my Ryzen system w/ an Asus motherboard (Gigabyte or AsRock if it is going to cost too much), I'm going to feel empty inside (it's a feeling I wouldn't wish on anyone).

OT: So far the survivors for me are M5A99X PRO and EVO. 3 motherboards pre-2006 are dead now. I guess anything better than the mainstream line of motherboards survive longer even after being roughed up.

I'm 22 now

You have a wrong mentality for someone so young :)
Assuming friendly advice is accepted? Work out the why and then make the necessary changes. If it's techie or pixel-related, it ain't life, not really. Hobbies are O.K. Hobbies that have no bearing on your actual, empirical reality? Less than O.K. Pursue them, but always keep in mind this distinction. Never let them shape your character or approach in life.

Back to topic, am honestly happy I'm in the minority. Sucks when you waste money, so definitely not something I'd be happy seeing others suffer from, lol. Just.. politely sticking to my views, as much as I can have them;

Being quite serious now...and to reiterate...

I would call asus about your m.2 problem. In the meantime, make sure your board is updated to the latest bios and see if you still have the voltage 'issue' as well as the m.2 issue.

I'm betting voltage was a simple setting difference.. like having llc enabled on the other, this one does not and may have more vdrop... many things can be considered here. But just remember it's NORMAL to see the same setup on different boards have slightly different settings.

You can gripe all you want, but every other brand will suffer the same poems listed. They all have caps...caps can bulge and die. They all have connectors, they can break off (I had a couple caps and connectors fall off evga boards... no ranting here).

Without a doubt everyone is entitled to their opinion, but just because it's an opinion, doesn't mean it can't be rooted in misinformation skewing perception vs reality.. :)

Looking forward to resolving your voltage concerns in an appropriate thread (not this rant thread).

I'm not sure about the rest of the OP, but caps failing within months raises a red flag. Afaik, we're talking solid caps here, which I haven't heard about failing under normal usage like ever.
Also, you seem to have an impressive list of problems for someone who buys Asus only occasionally. I don't hold Asus in particularly high regard, but I know people that buy only Asus and haven't had that many problems.

Could be something that happened a while ago with the caps??? I let that be, honestly...

I get a kick out of people who seem to ban brands...look at ebo. Shit happened 16 years ago and still doesn't buy asus.. lol! There is like 10 generations of new hardware, manufacturing processes etc... but still, 'it's bad'. Never understood that mentality... :)

Had a P5B mobo fail when a bunch of caps went bad near the hot running south bridge, - but to be fair this was quite likely due to bad case cooling and maybe also a PSU that went bad. So I'll give ASUS the benefit of the doubt on that one.

My current Z97A 3.1 had to be returned to vendor due to a bad PCI slot out of the box. The shop agreed to send a replacement, which is working fine (despite having some minor damage to the pins in the CPU socket).
I had to disable some power saving features as they caused the computer to hang on restart after it went to sleep mode.
There are some minor glitches on the fan control features- for some reason occaisionally the CPU fan spins up to full speed for no reason. I'm not sure if this is caused by the PWM header or is a software fault.

So on the whole i haven't had a terrible experience with Asus but it could have been better.
The PCI slot on the first Z97A and the bent pins on the replacement point to so- so quality control.
The south bridge on the P5B was running hot but this would probably not have been an issue if I'd had better cooling for the case. Anyway P5B is old news nowadays.

Next mobo I buy will probably be another brand, but it all depends what is available at the time at what price.

Bear in mind that Asus sell a lot of mobos so you will hear of proportionally more people having issues- another company who sell less products that are of equal quality will have proportionally less complaints.

However there do seem to have been a awful lot of complaints recently about Asus's RMA department. Though I think this may vary depending on locale.

Exactly the same here ,shit support that dropped off after one year ,no official win8+ support ever no BIOS fixes for broken features but it has been fairly sturdy it's been overclocked it's whole life and has been switched on folding over 3 years now so I'm not sure all Asus boards are shit but their support definitely is.
I've had a lot of Asus stuff even this Zen phone 2 that I've used reliably for years and so far nothing has broken , I've had only evga and gigabyte ever broken and both were out of warranty.
Could be just bad luck.

O.K., where to start, lol

- RAMs getting melded into the slots due to heat: As stated, this is a fact, specific board was a rampage 5 or something, the top tier for the bulldozers. Problem verified by an Asus rep, so am not talking out of my hairy butt. My only guess is due to the reasoning, as I cannot think of any other cause for said symptom. Things meld when heat is applied. Wasn't cold, wasn't dark magic. And before you say it, the chip was water-cooled, no heat leaking. Case flow was exceptional, i know 'cause I had measured it before calling my build 'finalized'. So no, it wasn't "me".
- Capacitors failing raising red flags: They do indeed, but unlike you, am not quick to judge others when I hold not all the facts :) I have never OCed anything myself prior to the current build, so it wasn't that. I am not an expert in PCs (as I tend to point out myself), but at a score of 139 Cattell Fair (132 being the MENSA entry) I ain't exactly dumb either. Can assure you I am also very, very careful in everything. It just happened. Now you can say that it's just coincidence; and it is indeed. Except after four decades of PC parts coming and going from my desk, wanna guess how often I've had this happen? That's right, only with Asus. Yes, it happens, except to me, it's happened with no one other brand, ever. It's also recent, so no, am not holding a grudge.
- Which replies to the next point raised, regarding the timing. I can comprehend more than some of you have me capable of, lol.. if it was a decade past, I'd obviously be seeing it under a different light? Am not irrational.. well, not that much anyway.
- Thank you EarthDog! I'm on the latest BIOS (reflashed just to be sure as well) and thus far i've tried everything suggested by both people way more knowledgeable than me (yourself included) and Asus themselves. It just can't happen. Assuming I can be bothered to mail it back to them, I will one day come back to let you know what their excuse is.
- Am aware of the basic facts; yes, different mobos need different voltages, different mobos have different potentials. You somehow neglected to pay attention to the important part however. My cheaper Giga mobo can OC more, for less. Am talking .3, not .03, .3 less on a vcore. To me that screams "bad motherboard" (the Asus one). Doubly so when said "better" motherboard (the Giga one in this instance) costs 150 bucks less. Facts remain facts. Specific, just in my case, but facts nonetheless.
edit: you raised valid points regarding settings, LLC as well, but can assure you I'm not missing anything. Wish I was!
- Agree about Corsair.. to my limited knowledge (again the empirical yes?), they are the MSI equivalent in RAMs, HDDs and cooling solutions. Overpriced, just because. However, unlike MSI, their products have never given me issues.

On a more general note, again, as stated, just my personal view. Can understand how it only applies to me, which is why it is framed thus; as a personal opinion. Equally needless to say, am not here to convince anyone (I lack the 'CV' to do that), am not here to start a flame war; better things to do with my time.
Lastly? To my defense, rant or no rant, I did attempt to keep the OP as civil and humorous as the situation allows, yes? :)

Gets us back to brand loyalty eh , leave the vodka alone for the night people let's not get crazy.
I feel the same about MSI. Not even for much, nowt broke but my r9 390 gave me mental issues due to MSI software turning fans off under load for example.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.
Peace out ,rant on ,debate on but respect always (or at least most of the time).:)

It's not about loyalty exactly, it's merely about chances really. Anything can break, you just want to tell yourself you're taking the 'safest' option :)
Can assure you I'd be just as quick to praise Asus if my experience with their products was stellar.

Both cases, same rules apply. One, empirically, two, thus far.

My R9 Fury Strix had 2 of the high side vrm caps literally fell of the pcb... The thermal pad that they used on the gpu to cool both gpu and HBM was not making full contact with the HBM either... Have had other asus products (older ones) with no issues tho.

Sorry to hear about your Asus experiences being unfavorable! I think they have great high end mobos my self and still remember the days where only a high end DFI board would sway me away from Asus.
