Very sensible comment. The old movies were ground breaking in their day (at least A New Hope), but I have never understood why the new movies are so trashed by people. It feels like people "hate" them because they are supposed to somehow. When I ask why they hate them I rarely get clear answers, only mutterings about special effects. Which doesn't make sense.

because the fans grew up, and the novels and comics did too. the universe matured... and then lucas came back and made it for children. if you look into it (cracked had some good articles on it) all the good things from ep 4/5/6 came from others - and the things the fans hate, from lucas.

Disney tends to be a bunch of Assh#!es. You should see how they threat their artists. If Walt was still alive today he would burn down Disneyland.

Bah, Walt was a businessman bastard who took the credit for all of Ub Iwerks' ideas and characters.

Saw a preview of the new Star wars 1313 game, was looking forward to it.
Makes sense that Disney would close them down, their games division has been pretty bad for a long time now.

X-wing was not made by Lucas, only published by them.

And that other comment: Like the originals were then? That argument makes no sense either. I
ve read those articles, and iirc most of the arguments boiled down to vague feelings.

no, theres quite solid fact that certain people involved in the movies over-rode lucas and changed things, especially in the costume and set designs. when ep 1/2/3 came out he was too important to be ignored, resulting in some fairly average movies.

The fact might lie in that others overruled him, it is not a fact that the new movies are more avarage than the old ones.

I never hated the prequels ,Myself I rather enjoyed the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker.

What pissed a lot of late seventies era Star Wars fans off was him changing and adding in the new actors in the certain scene`s in New Hope, Empire,Jedi just to make a classic updated and those sadly are the ones we get,Not the one`s We seen in the theatres or on VHS rentals until he announced the prequels.
Geesh I remember Kenner`s first issue of Land Speed Cruiser (the red one you seen on Tatooine moon with Luke on the farm)was metal body and very sought after.I had one back then,My sister buried it in the sand :(. man those were good days getting Star Wars action figures......Another very sought after 1st issue Kenner was the 12inch Boba Fett wow if only I had kept it......They only made them one year after Empire came out,Another would be the one were you could lift off Darth's Lid....(funny it looks like the top of a certain male part ) and was out for a few months....

Very true. There is even a t-shirt that says something like "Han shot first."

There is a great movie on Netfix that does a great job of laying out most of the major beefs that fans have with the new movies and the bastardized remastered editions titled "The People vs George Lucas"

The first game I played on my first PC was day of the tentacle.
Also, I remember the first KOTOR most dearly ... I was hoping for another single player RPG about the old republic ...
I wish Disney would rather shut down all DisneyLands in the world before LucasArts ... wasn't restructuring an option? There is traditional and sentimental value attached to the brand that's being overlooked.

LucasArts made terrible games because George Lucas has no idea what he is doing. Just look at SW1-3.

Only game i liked of theirs was Grim Fandango. They near all been screwed one way or another like terrible programing.

Although i cannot speak of the last few as i gave in bothering with their games.

Which would mean you dont like the sequels or what is usually considered the granddaddy of adventure games: Grim Fandango. Also Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle or Jedi Knight. Either both of you have very VERY strange tastes or you didn't think it through. Even Republic Commando was made by them, and that was a surprisingly good game.

I mean liking EMI but not MI2? That just does not make any sense to me.

Oh god stop it. You really have no idea what you're talking about.

Funny that as every one thinks differently and it surly don't make them wrong.. It's good to hear their cutting their losses maybe they can get to work on some thing else that ermm works.

He's entitled to his opinion of course, but why should Lucasarts make bad games because Lucas himself was not knowing what he was doing? And it looked like he thought all their games sucked which is just wrong. WRONG I SAY

im curious to know which games were actually PRODUCED by lucasarts and not just distributed. i would wager the better ones were all simply distributed under the lucasarts name...

All the good adventure games were made by Lucas, as well as Dark Forces 1 and 2. Republic Commando was made by them, The Force Unleashed and Loom. Probably others too. I have not played The Force Unleashed, but the other games were excellent. Pod Racer. Then they did a bunch of kinda sucky games as well.

Sad but understandable. As others have said, most of our fond memories of Lucasarts happened during the 90's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LucasArts_games

Those are both published and developed games, so it's not an entirely fair list. Armed & Dangerous for instance was made by Planet Moon, who also gave us Giant: Citizen Kabuto which ruled in its day.

Hence my disclaimer in post, which is also at the top of the page of that link :)

Besides, when I was younger lad in the 90's, didn't care all that much. You saw that LucasArts logo and knew you had a decent chance of playing a good game.

Hate is a strong word and probably a bit wrong i think ,dislike much better i think .
NEW movies ( or 1-2-3 in renewed naming ) is pretty much acollection of hollywood cliches , and trying to complete 4 elemets started at 6 iirc ( air city ) , water at 4 fire at 5 or 6 dont remember , do you know who use this cliches ? Not multi hundred million cost movies .

Story is cheap and terrible more like a 5th class movie , it was a torture to watch that crap to me .Lucas could spend same money and create good movie with good content but he choose spend money to create a cliche with bad story .

Yeeeaaaaahhh because the old movies were all new and exciting and incredibly well made? Mark Hamill is a great actor you know.

Oh, and how is it a Hollywood cliche if no high budget movies use those elements? That is over analyzing anyway.
