Do PC cases that have USB ports require drivers? I plugged in several devices and none of them work. I have the cable plugged into the motherboard USB 3.0 header. I made a similar post earlier, but it was in the wrong section. The motherboard USB is working properly.

The case with USB 3 ports does not require special drivers.
Your Operating System should have USB 3 drivers though for it to function.
Go to the Motherboard manufacturers site and download those drivers if required.

Gotcha. But the thing is, I can plug devices (keyboard,mouse, and Wi-FI adapter) into the USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard and they work. I tried the keyboard and mouse on the case USB, nada. Would a set of generic drivers work? It's an ASRock Z87 Extreme4 mobo in a GamerMax-W case. I'm assuming I grab drivers from ASRock, but I want to be sure.

My personal rule of thumb is that no matter what new operating system is installed or any machine I always go and look for all possible drivers.

Do you have the usb 3.0 ports from the case inserted correctly into motherboard header? If not make sure that you do. If it still doesn't work replace the case or try to get a pci usb 3.0 bracket that plugs into mobo to ensure the board aint shot.

Windows 7 does not come with USB 3.0 drivers. You need to install them from the manufacturer of the controller. Since it's an Intel chipset, you need to install the chipset drivers for it(which include drivers for the hub), and the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller driver(which is the driver for the host controller...obviously). Both should be available on the mobo maufacturer's site. Or you can get them directly from Intel's site(google it). If it's got another brand of USB 3.0 controller, you need to find out which it is and get the appropriate drivers for it(from the mobo manufacturer's site, or directly from the chip manufacturer's site).

No! However, as noted above the motherboard where those case USB 3.0 ports connect to do require drivers. W10 should recognize and install the necessary drivers. As indicated W7 does not for USB 3.0. This is why it is often necessary to ensure you connect your motherboard and mouse to USB 2.0 ports when installing the OS and with some motherboards, and when accessing the BIOS Setup Menu. This is not a problem since keyboards and mice don't require the faster data transfer speeds USB 3.0 provide.

Thanks everyone that replied. The Intel USB drivers worked. I downloaded them from ASRock website. What had me confused was the fact the motherboard USB 3.0 worked out of the box sort of speak

Work and work optimally are two different things. Rear panel USB usually works without a driver but it is very likely falling back to USB 2.0
