after my terrible experience with radeon vii and black screens since release day and hearing of all the issues the 5700 and 5600 owners have suffered i doubt in its current state AMD will be able to sell us a stable GPU that wont crash.

imagine buying a top of the range car that always cuts out and leaves you stuck at the kerb.

you can go check the amd forums many users of these cards are still suffering from major stability issues.

For this reason i am selling my radeon vii and switching to the green team.

opinions are irrelevant here
and just so you know there's still a huge group of people who deny navi driver issue exists

Lol, before the AMD SJWs land...

Who knows. That said, I doubt it would stop me if I was in the market and the card was worth it. Soooooooo many things to worry about first before drivers.

My guy, I play blackjack with a win rate of 49%....if 5 of every 100 people have issues (which id imagine is half that) sounds like a win to me. ;)

Who knows? The cards are still months away. As a 5700XT owner that initially had some minor issues which were eventually resolved, I believe that AMD is continually working to improve their driver situation, and I'm sure they don't wish to fall back down a hole they mostly climbed out of. It's a shame in my opinion (however irrelevant that may be @cucker tarlson :p - no hate here, just teasing you) that so many were turned off from buying an AMD GPU because of the driver issues that people experienced. The hardware is very solid, but the software prevented a lot of people from getting to experience it. I've said it before: I knew about the potential for driver issues going in and was willing to deal with any potential issues if it meant I could have essentially 2070 Super performance for less money spent. I understand not everybody is willing to make that trade-off, and for those that wanted a more stable experience (in general, obviously nothing is perfect) Nvidia became the only option.

Personally, I'm hopeful that the drivers are stable at launch. If AMD can develop a card that will be competitive and worth buying, I would like to see it be able to go head to head with Nvidias offerings and not have consumers already skewed towards Nvidia because AMD shot themselves in the foot with poor drivers.

Maybe! But what if AMD is listening, and they slam one out of the park and get the Radeon name back up top?

Id be ok with that.

I started with ATi, I would like to get another at some point, but it seems that nvidia is the intel of the GPU world

For now..

Jesus man. Life is too short to stay with the same company for 20 fking years.

Try something new, something different, for your own life's sake.

As for driver of new cards, nobody can predict that. I am sure even if AMD's own driver team cannot predict that. Why worry about something even the GPU maker cannot even control at this point?

Look in reality issues often happens, the 2### series Nvidia card's have theirs too ,they(All chip brands, on every part,Every single release) have a list, ALWAYS.
So do what you want but if you want new car no issues feel get an Xbox series X.

Get a console and leave tech forums to people that understand tech. You clearly don't since you are asking for perfection which literally no company is capable of providing. All companies have issues from time to time for various reasons, be it resources, marketing bs, engineering shortcuts or plain stupidity. So, as I said, get a console.

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
I've never seen a new hardware release that has 100% stable drivers (there are just too many variables). And seeing as AMD is the smallest of the big chip makers (apple, nvidia, intel etc.) they will most likely have more problems.

Early adopters know and are used to this, and fall into a special category of techno masochism.

Buying a 2080ti right now is not advisable but I don't have any driver issues with mine at the moment. If you can get it for a great price might be worth while.

I honestly believe AMD will do a proper launch.
They may not be the most efficient but I do believe they will be stable.

To this day we don't know whether Navi's woes are caused by the drivers. There are signs that say they are, but without official confirmation, it could be anything really.

I recall having this discussion previously, lol.

They've announced in the driver notes, black screen issues that have come and gone by title and another (generic) that has been there since release day.

AMD commented on it too....

Stability of our drivers is a key priority for our software team. They are monitoring forum discussions closely, including the black screen and other issues users are reporting, and we are actively identifying and working on fixes.

Do you need a switch to the hammys to realize it? :p

I'm a former 5700 XT (and 5600 XT) owner, and I can tell you that I had my fair share of problems with both cards. So much so that I ditched Radeon and went Nvidia. And that kinda pisses me off (though I think sad would be a better word) because the 5700XT and 5600XT looked like absolute beasts in most every review I read/watched and their price to performance ratio was fantastic -- I mean, damn near 2070/Super performance, for less? Hell yeah! I really wanted my "relationship" with Navi to work out, and I really did try to make it work, but there was just something about my system the damn card didn't like. Even post-Navi, I'm still thinking about what that something could possibly be because my experience with it wasn't like the majority of problems experienced by other Navi owners. A true mystery, I think.

I really want Navi to succeed. And I'll for certain be keeping up with reviews and the more important owner experiences once Navi 2 drops. And if things aren't a complete shitshow like Navi still is at this moment, cool beans. Maybe I'll surrender my GTX 1660 Super. But there's no way of knowing anything until then.

performance is hit and miss too,tbh
it's very good in big triple A's that make it to reviews
if you look at new games that don't get that much press it's a diffferent story,5700xt can be found on rtx 2060 level consistently

Believing has never helped anyone and it won't help you here. But do pray, and maybe his divine light will shine upon this release.

Note, Im an atheist when it comes to this and in general.

Come on, you're better than this.
Driver crash is a symptom. I was saying the root cause hasn't been confirmed, thus it can still be anything.

Navi 14 has been very stable since day 1. Navi 10 is the only one that has had issues and that's likely because it was the very first product of a new architecture.

Judging by the daily amount of people asking for help regarding 5600/5700XT on AMD Help Reddit, AMD driver issue are far from over. Always amaze me that people would go as far as replacing their entire system sans the Navi GPU or reinstalling windows couple of times, even game on Linux just to get a better experience...
I guess if you are a masochist, Navi is definitely the right product.

Well, that's not fair either. For every user that has issues with their Navi card, there are probably 10 others that don't. But they don't lurk on reddit.
Problems with Navi are probably less widespread than 2080Ti's at lunch. Exceptt, unlike 2080Ti, Navi's problems are not fixed yet.
