As in actually have PURCHASED a copy of antivirus, not use free alternatives.

I'm curious as to how much people actually spend on this stuff.

Do you count paying for the av, then getting a mail in rebate which makes it free?

AVG free is all I need... Currently I'm not using any anti-virus protection, but I don't really care right now as this install is temporary, I think I'm going to try Vista again soon.

Yes, I purchased Norton Internet security 2007(3 licenses) for my wifes laptop, and my parents PC ($20 after MIR). I personally use norton AV Corporate edition from my Company (not purchased ;)) for my main rig.

I use Adaware personal for my spyware needs.

I'm not aware of any commercial Linux antivirus programs. I'm not aware of a need for one, either. I just run rootkit hunter from another machine whilst chrooted in every once in a while.

McAfee........£19.99....does the job for me, always use Grisoft free AVG but heard good things about McAfee so decided to give them a try. Zone alarm(free) for firewall and Lavasoft's Adaware plus Spybot for spyware.

I bought a license for NOD 32 back when I was running XP, but only had it installed until the first time I reinstalled. After that: No antivirus what so ever for the last 4 years or so. Never had an issue with virii.

I don't bother with any Anti-Virus/firewall crap. My router has a built in NAT firewall which seems to do a pretty good job, and I'm the antivirus software!!. i use firefox, with the NoScript extension, and i keep a close eye on all the windows startup and services etc. I actually downloaded a few programs just to see how i was doing, and they confirmed that my pc is completely clean ;)

I bought NOD32 which I have licensed for one year - tbh, if you're clever enough to avoid all the crap on the net, why d'you need one? Better to be safe than sorry I guess.

I can't help but think they're using up resources which I could be using for another background program or for those vital extra few frames. ;) Saying that, NOD32 hardly uses any resources. One of the main reasons I bought it.

I'm contemplating not renewing my subscription when it runs out not bother using one. Only a decent firewall. Which reminds me, my firewall is Sunbelts (used to be Kerio) Personal Firewall. It's aight, can't say I've had any issues with it.

What about paid for software, but which is now out of the "1 year update subscription" period. In which box should you stick that common one?

I used to actually use Norton Anti-Virus on my HTPC, and my gaming one as well. But, it expired. Right now, on both of my comps (HTPC and gaming) I use Avast Anti-Virus (great IMO) and also Ad-Aware/Ad-Watch. Pretty good stuff...

Already exists, but it's not so easy, it scans for PC viruses as well, so you don't infect those hapless Windows users. lol

I have Kaspersky Internet Security. I like it a lot, and plan to stick with it, if it maintains it's performance level and effectiveness.
