Are you constantly getting "pwnd" in multiplayer FPS games? Well Nvidia has some good news for you, it's not you, or the rampant cheating, but it's your video card that makes you look like a noob out there so upgrade to a RTX card to make yourself "leet"

Nvidia has adopted a new tactic for selling its higher-end graphics products: the claim that having a better GPU will improve your kill-to-death ratio (K/D) in popular games including Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

They are not wrong that lower latency leads to better player performance in competitive shooters; however, NVIDIA clearly has a dog in the race. Because of that, I wouldn't take any of the numbers they provide seriously. NVIDIA should have contracted an independent research organization to do the study across a variety of hardware and users. They used exclusively NVIDIA hardware at exclusively an NVIDIA eSports facility.

Hate to break it but what Nvidia says is exactly what every (self proclaimed) pro gamer says: latency is everything.

They're not wrong - to a degree. And you can hit 120 fps on a GTX 1060 so let's leave it at that

To be honest, in pubg there is a bug with rate of fire. It's in sync with your framerate, so higher framerate makes you (in general) shoot faster..

I kid you not. I locked my max fps at 93 because my favourite weapons are shooting over 99% dps at that value. Someone made a spreadsheet.

Sigh... I can't believe I'm going to say this...
It seems as though *Every online game is designed to run optimal under certain circumstances...
Basically as good as the console that it was designed to run on.
If you want better latency drop your graphics levels to that if a console and see what happens.... Even if you have a 1080ti or a 2080ti... Doesn't seem to matter how good your system is... I could be wrong.. I doubt it.

Encountered same shit in Quake champions, only backwards. Saber initially decided to tie networking packets to the framerate, so the higher your frames, the worse you lag.

no one disputes having higher FPS benefits gamers in a multiplayer FPS but to say the solution is to buy a RTX video card is comical

1 - maybe you have a slow CPU
2 - maybe turn down some of the eye candy that is not needed
3 - maybe drop down a graphic level or two
4 - maybe replace the GTX 660 (used in their study) with a GTX 1070, 1660ti, 1060, etc., etc.,
5 - maybe you have network latency issues that can be solved with a better ISP, hard wire your PC to the router rather then wifi, etc.,
6 - maybe the server you are playing on is six or more time zones away from you

Of course it's a little funny and obviously there's a slew of other things to do to improve your gaming. I wouldn't expect Nvidia to not try and sell their products... Hopefully they'll get the hint and quit with these stupid "new tactics" for selling video cards and start cutting prices.

People have caught on that "RTX" is a rather dead tech until the next gen or the gen after that. Nvidia needs to realize that their initial marketing hype is gone, charging a premium for a sub-par tech isn't something people want and they need to start lowering their inflated prices to reflect what the market is today.

...and no tech will ever help me "build good" in Fortnite. To hell with that game, I can't do it!! lol.
