People from other countries could help me here. I was wondering about the pricing of computer components in other countries, and more especially whether such prices would be proportionate to the cost of living there.

My parents are going to Bulgaria tomorrow, and there the cost of living is very cheap. Which means you can buy quality at a very good price, even though for the natives it might not be since their wages would also be low.
In my country (Malta) a small apartment costs $150,000 whereas in Bulgaria its equivalent would cost maybe $15,000.

Now if computer parts are proportionately as cheap I'll be making a shopping list ready!

In my country computer parts are sooooo ridiculously inflated it's unthinkable!

Check out the 8800GTX in a Maltese shop it's 321 Maltese Liri which converted to USD is ....... hold on tight and breathe in ..... ready?............. USD 965 :wtf:
The equivalent on Newegg is USD 569.

Is there anyone from Bulgaria here, or maybe you know someone who is, or maybe you have been there?

Also, if you for example were to go to your nearest local shop and get an 8800GTX 768MB what would be the price you would have to pay for it?

Duh, Malta's nice for viewing historical sites, culture, nightlife, diving, beaches..... but definitely do not attempt to buy computer parts from here!!! :shadedshu

I looked online and looked at one site. A 7600 gs is 246.94 (w/e currency it is). I don't think you'll be able to find a 8800 in Bulgaria, the best I saw were 1950xt's, no 8600, 8400, 2600 etc.

Thanks. Maybe the prices do remain stable and that way high-end cards would be prohibitive there? I dunno.

I tried searching online but the only sites I got where in Bulgarian (cyrillic alphabet like russian and greek) so I couldn't understand anything.

Was the site you found in Bulgarian too? If not I'd appreciate if you give me a link. (I'm still hoping, lol)

lol yeah, couldn't understand a bit but they had "vc" in paranathesis obviously for the type of hardware, and the prices are numbers, so it's not to hard to understand those.
