I am 8 years away from desktops, so bare with me on things. I am still learning about desktops. I now everything about laptops.

I just bought another 970 do to a SLI. The other 970 did not come with the SLI connector. But from my experience with laptops, dual GPUs needs a connector to work right.

I am right to assume that desktop GPUs also need a SLI connector or there another way to activate SLI.

It should. AMD is the only one that does connectorless stuff. SLI connector should have come with your motherboard. If not, then you'd likely have to buy an aftermarket. Probably can get an old one for cheap. I've been using one that came with a board from 06. Still works fine.

Oh, comes with the motherboard. I kinda bought this desktop used and prebuilt.

Like most of us, presumably, i have a dozen of unopened connectors from years of motherboards upgrades (each come with 2 of them, or so)
So in any friendly shop they could just give you one if you kindly ask...

I'm pretty sure the SLI bridge comes in the box with the card.

I've never seen a SLI bridge in a video card box.. only in the motherboard boxes... AMD cards i've bought do come with a bridge
I knew I'd seen them somewhere, they just seem to accumulate and end up in junk drawers. :p

That explain all about this thread:cool:
My last desktop had a AMD 64 3500+ built on 130mm and socket 939. All laptops after that.

Nope, they never have. Always come with the motherboard. OP just buy one from eBay. They are less than $5. But you do need one.

I went to Fry's and got a SLI bridge for $4.99. I would had to wait at least 3 weeks to come from China if I bought one from ebay. And the monitor I bought comes tomorrow in the mail. Thank you to everyone.

I mean not really depending on where you are. There are plenty from the states.

According to his other thread he has a x99-UD3, which does support SLI.

Since he bought it used it just didn't come with a SLI bridge.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Orginal-GIG...551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234fea0a8f

That is the exact one that would have come with the motherboard.
The motherboard came with the desktop that I bought. I would have gotten a better motherboard but I had no choice and
i got it for a steal. I'm happy with the desktop so far. Still not done upgrading it.
