It just seems like everyone has the Q6600 and i feel like i must be missing out!

Are people still happy with their E6600's? We're talking recent-games, high end stuff, is your E6600 holding out? I know i've been doing just fine with mine, but recently just felt as though I'm missing out since the majority of people with a Duel-Core processor have the Q series!

:toast:

I have a Q6600, but it is certainly not a necessity. The Q's are quad's, and a good budget quad at that, so that is why many people are getting the Q's. A cheaper transition cpu. For gaming, dual core's are all that is necessary. E6600 should do decent with a good overclock, but still may bottleneck with you get into the upper end games, such as Crysis. What is yours clocked to?

I've got my e6600 still, and it's still chugging away nicely at 3.2GHz 400x8 all day every day.

I don't see the point in spending the money for a quad when the only differences i'll notice are:
1. Higher PCMark05 score
2. Higher temperatures

Point 1 is sorely desired haha

Yeah this is why i didn't go for a Q series in the first place!

Mine is at stock-settings, believe it or not, i have NEVER touched CPU overclocking. Wouldn't know where to start! Something tells me i may need to look into it at some point in the future though. What makes you think it would bottle-neck me if i got Crysis?

i didnt have alot of money so i went with the e6600 and i must say i love the thing, it was cheap and i have it running at 3.2 stable all day on stock cooling! i get about 200-300 ish frames in css and hl2 about 150ish in tf2 35 if im lucky in crysis assassins creed and cod4 im not sure about the frames but i can handle them no problem

tbh i think the for the most part why people go quad are because:
they think the more cores you have there will be much better performance (kinda true)
bigger e-penis
need it for vid, photo, or music editing

E6600 still here at 3.6Ghz and loving it. I dont do anything currently to warrant getting a Quad CPU, and depending on future games/apps demands, I may even skip Nehalem also. It comes down to what your needs are. If your encoding or running multiple apps or multi threaded apps/games, a Quad would help. Otherwise, not worth it.

It's good to see others with an E6600 - seems like everyones got it overclocked except me! I'm still running at 2.4Ghz. Looks like your getting a lot of juice out of it too!

I may have to take you up on that sometime mate, thanks for the offer! :D

I was running mine @ 3.8 (1.55V) until a couple of weeks ago. It was/is an awesome chip. It was even the old stepping.

You can see my results in Crysis on the first post on this thread. Not to shabby, I'd say!
