Does this classify as AX850 coil whine?

Hi everyone,

I've got an AX850 which seem to be making noises on different times, for the ones wanting to read the entire description, I wrote a longer explanation, for the ones who don't, i tried summing it up in the bottom :)

1. Problem: When the PCI-E 16x lane is being used in games, not desktop (tried with gt8600 gs, hd 4850, hd 4870) it makes a high pitch whine, not too noticeable, but the whine levels differs from card to card. Highest in the radeons though.

The worst whine (very noticeable) happens when i stress test in either afterburner or CCC clock test, or when playing games (especially Alan Wake, which almost drives me crazy, because the whine almost triples on the 4850, and changes sound 3 times depending on which part of the menu your in the game, without even loading the game). This whine however is not near as high as the ones I've heard from youtube...in the beginning i even thought the whine might come from my motherboard, MSI Z68A-GD65 G3 (bought after reading cadeveca's review).

2. Funny problem (no clue why):CPU stress testing with Prime 95 yesterday, and its all good, no noise what so ever, unless i use the mouse and actively resize the main window during the test - the PSU begins making a noise low version of a screeching door, but stops if i stop resizing the window, however no noise if i just let the test stress test the cpu at 100%.
This one left me clueless, why would resizing the prime95 window make any difference in the AX850 ? I could understand the noise happening during the test or something, but resizing a window xD

1. Whine/high pitch stressing PCI-E 16x lane.
2. Low version of door screeching noise, when resizing main window of prime 95, during CPU stress test (however, not if i leave the test running).

Is this one of the whining AX850's? I've had it since december, but the PCI-E lane noise wasnt too bad in most games, however when I bought Alan Wake and noticed the noise in the menu and in-game it made me rethink about it. Also never noticed any screech by using cpu besides resizing the prim95 window before...

if simply changing menu screen changes the tone of the whine, that is definitely an issue.

I just RMA'd my original AX1200 for a similar noise.

No matter what Yo said, I dont have that noise anymore, so I guess it wasn't just my fan making noise;)

Aye, I guess I'll have to do the same.

Still does anyone have a qualified guess on why resizing prime95 window would cause this noise from PSU? I'm really confused
