As for the low profile vs reg, I think that's more or less for ppl that can't use the taller model. I don't think there would really be much benefit using those other than space concerns.

Can't say much about the overclocking on the other two though.

Tall vs. short is just a matter of having the heatsink or not basically. As xBruce88x said, it's there for people with huge air coolers that can't fit tall sticks.

I'd say go for doms if you want to tweak and OC.

Buy the speed you want. 1600MHz at CAS9 isn't going to clock much;)

As far as the spreaders, they are pretty much for show anyways, so height or surface area has little to offer you anyways. If you want your ram to run cooler, put a fan on them.

Yea, I'm building another system with a gigabtye z68 ud3h-b3 and 2600k, and I noticed immediately that the CM Hyper 212 HSF hangs over the last dim slot.

Unfortunately Vengeance LP only comes in 9-9-9-24 1600mhz flavor, which still isn't bad at all. Will I see any practical performance difference against a Vengeance Tall with 9-10-9-27 1866mhz for OCing and for games? Don't care about benchmarks.

Any 1600MHz Vengeace kit is supposed to do 1866MHz at those timings, it has been shown on the Corsair blog. How clockable the sticks will be is basically dependant on how lucky your are with them, but it's basically the same thing. Not only the short are 1600MHz, my tall kit is 1600MHz 9-9-9-24.

Lucky as in batch/lot dependent?

Right now, I'm trying to convince myself whether its worth paying the extra money for 9-10-9-27 1866mhz tall ones, but it sound like the 9-9-9-24 1600mhz should be able to do the same.

don't expect ANY kit to OC right now. Buy the speed you want.

I'd stay FAR away from those dominators...old style kit, not really made for current platforms.

Two matched 4GB modules for use in high performance Intel Core i7, i5 and i3 Dual Channel systems

The vengence say:

4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 for AMD, Intel Dual processors and upcoming 2nd Generation Intel Core platforms 9-9-9-24 latency Vengeance Blue heat spreader for styling and performance Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) Support

You need to look for ram that contains this, for the best experience:

2nd Generation Intel Core platforms

;)

for 4GB DIMMs, these wuld be the OC choice:

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM...

Should be Hynix BFR, which seems to be the best ICs for OC. Of course, as always, current kits may not contain the same ICs as the release kits did, just FYI.

Yes, batch dependant. Here's the blog link, give it a read.
