I would like to take a minute to thank the hard working individuals who supply TPU with these great developments.

First and foremost is W1zzard for his dedication to GPU-Z, TPU Capture, and GPUTool. Without his hard work many people would not be able to easily identify graphics card details. His constant updates surely must be a full time position which our community is extremely grateful for.

Next is BAGZZlash, his development of Radeon Bios Editor has been an amazing endeavor. A simple concise software program that has allowed thousands of users to customize their graphics card's potential is unique and makes for an extremely useful tool.

Lastly is unclewebb, his accurate software to monitor temperature for Intel processors has been extremely helpful to the half a million people that have downloaded it. This simple software is crucial for keeping tabs on our trusty cpus as well as using it alternatively to monitor changes from hardware changes.

To all the developers that are officially supported by TechPowerUp I say Thank You.

Many of us simply download these applications without regard to the time and effort that has been put into these projects. All of the developers would agree that simply downloading and using their software is reward enough; however, I would like to take the opportunity to bring to the attention to the users that there are many alternative ways you can help support these applications.

The easiest way is to simply donate money.

Donations through PayPal are available:

RBE via PayPal email address: BAGZZlash@gmx.de

Real Temp via PayPal email address: monitrex@yahoo.ca

TechPowerUp via the PayPal link at the bottom of this page:

http://www.techpowerup.com/contact.php

Giving money is a great charitable donation that shows the developer you are grateful for their product(s). However donations alone account for less than 1% of actual users. As you can see, Real Temp has been downloaded over half a million times but the total dollar value of donations is less than $200:

I'm sure the statistics for GPU-Z are even more astonishing for donations per download. Simply put donating money to the cause is great, but barely scratches the surface of actual monies spent on development and supporting their software.

As stated before downloading and using the software is extremely helpful to the developer. Downloading these applications shows a usefulness and need of an application. This need can be coupled with opportunities for advertising, contests, and other ways to publish the software mainstream. I encourage you all to support these software applications by keeping up to date with the latest version by simply downloading it at it's release.

Additionally supporting these programs can be in the form of constructive criticism and offering suggestions. Many features have been suggested to each developer and some have been implemented. Offering help by the means of sending bug reports, posting threads for issues, or simply uploading your vga bios to the online collection are very helpful. This area is the largest way our community can help.

Lastly we all can help these guys by simply putting the word out. I'm not talking about a PR 'buzz' for each piece of software, but perhaps linking these software apps in your signature at the other forums you visit. Creating sigs that promote these applications and the honorable website that graciously hosts them is an outstanding opportunity for new features, new ideas, and even new apps just as great as these. Inviting new members to these applications to venues will help TechPowerUp and the entire forum grow.

I encourage you to discuss the opportunities available to you on how you can help TechPowerup and it's affiliates grow. :)

Thanks mlee49. I enjoy helping out the user community. My goal was never to get rich but a few donations once in a while is important so I can buy more hardware and continue with development.

I've been working on a new project called ThrottleStop for about the last 8 months so I haven't had much time for RealTemp. ThrottleStop is more of an Intel laptop tool.

You can download the latest versions here:

ThrottleStop 2.84
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/3/1794507/ThrottleStop.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?zdp17yqe71v2u97

RealTemp 3.59.3
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/3/1794507/RealTempBeta.zip

Freeware programmers enjoy helping out the community or else we wouldn't be doing what we do. If you have a program that you use on a regular basis and that program is important to you then support it with a small donation. If enough users chipped in a buck or two to their favorite freeware author, that would make a big difference.

Programmers need to eat too. :)

x100^100 I use this program every day and love it. I'm glad I can support it.

The motivation behind this thread is dedicated to the RealTemp creator. Dont get me wrong, GPU-Z and RBE are both fantastic programs but with the success of GPU-Z and it's opportunity for contests I cant help but think of the little guy. Unclewebb's updates and cat-like reflexs to posts in his support thread are unreal. I'm surprised it isn't more widely known and used.

To the developers: How can we help?

Thanks for your support.

It's helped motivate me to continue work on RealTemp and add a few more features like better system tray font support as well as improved GPU reporting.

Thanks. There's no such thing as a small donation. If every user chipped in a buck, I'd be able to carry on with RealTemp for years to come. Doing something I love would sure beat working for a living. :D

I'm really happy to see this thread still being useful, I'll make another donation soon. :)

I threw in a little coding humor in my donation :D

First the good news. Donations have increased during August due to this thread.

The bad news is that this is freeware software and 99.995% of people don't bother contributing to free software. This thread isn't going to change that fact.

Here's a list of donations I've received during the last 6 months.

Thanks to everyone who has helped out.

Luckily my wife is starting a new job today so there's no need to continue donating. I'll survive but my boss has spoken. No more freeware projects. I should have time to get RealTemp 3.60 finalized this week and W1zzard has also decided that he would like to add my ThrottleStop program to TechPowerUp. That's motivation enough for me.

Thanks, but even if it caused one extra dollar your way its worth it.

Best of luck with your new project, and hopefully future projects. If they are half as good as Real Temp there's no way of going wrong.

By the way, PP fees bite. Can't you claim donations and get an exempt status?
