From what I read a few years back, DOOM 4 will be made based on the original DOOM formula, you know, the one that made people shit there pants.

If Doom 4 will look like that i'm going to like it , Doom 3 was to dark for my taste although i never finish the game , i don't know if Doom 3 is dark all the way?

One game that i would like to see another one made is Kingpin that was the shit!

I think we've already played the "creepy creatures in ruined city" game with Metro 2033. Unless Doom 4 sticks to what the Doom franchise is known for (futuristic SciFi confined space setting), it will fail. Even if ruined, I don't think Earth's cities will look like the one in the first screenshot, in the year 2145+.

My sentiments exactly. I have severe doubts this is related to Doom since it just does not fit the aesthetics of the game at all.

Doom 1, Doom 2, Final Doom were most certainly not dark all the time. There were quite a few expansive and even outdoor levels.

I hope this is like Doom 2. I'd love me some more Hell on Earth!

Edit: There were city levels in Doom 2 as well!!

The original Doom had dark places but it wasn't dark all the time. In fact normally it was quite bright but used the darkness to scare you. The whole concept of Doom was lots of nothing but strange noises and an ominous switch in a brightly lit room. Press that switch and then...pooft, lights out and monster out too.

Not really. The very first doom had a lot of other locations like goth castles, cities, sewers, warehouses, depots etc. Final Doom or TNT had big open areas (where you jump from roof to roof). It was doom3 which ditched all that variety and shoved hi-t locations and stuff.



I'd like to see classic demons (CyberSpiders, Masterminds and so on), with next gen graphics they'd look kewl.

I loved the feel of Doom 3, and hope these screenshots are not a complete indication of their desired direction. The cramped claustrophic space station was an amazing environment for a game, and I hope they continue in that same vein. I like to think of it as Doom 3 was to Alien as Early Doom games were to Aliens.

What we like to see in DOOM 4 is something we've never seen before. If I want a game like Metro 2033, Rage or others then I will buy those.

In order for DOOM 4 to stand out, is to follow the original DOOM 1&2 style of game, and refine the graphics and scare meter. They have to follow the original formula. Doom 3 was OK, but 1 & 2 were King.

I remember my 9800 pro getn chopped by Doom 3. Cant wait to see what Doom 4 brings to the table.
