Double fans for gpu

I was thinking of buying a double fan for my gpu since this one gets very hot.
The space is not a problem, but the heat dissipation is.
Is there any good one with double fans and is it worth the upgrade?
What is your experience with these aftermarket fans, did you get any lower temperature?

Also most dual fan VGA HSF are for higher end cards and may not work for a 6770.

I see no real point in spending $70 on a cooler for a 6770 when I bought the $80 Accelero Xtreme 7970, as my $350 7950 was actually running at 90c+ in Far Cry 3. 70c isn't anything bad unless you hate the fan noise. My 7950 now runs at a maximum of 60c @ 1175/1500/1.2v with the new cooler.

u might want to first change termal paste on ur gpu... its cheep and u will get improvements...

According to pccooler.cn the mentioned VGA cooler is compatible with a HD 5770 and a HD 6770 is just a rebranded HD 5770, so the VGA cooler should fit.

I have done everything possible, from thermal paste to the little washers, no change!
It is clearly a manufacturing issue or something like that,
but I hope to clear this problem once and for all with this double cooler.
I might give it a try, but I will measure my gpu first than compare to the schema.

Judging by its specs, is this new cooler and how much better than the one I have?

I contacted the ebay seller where I bought my card and they told me they can fix it or renew the card, but I don't exactly know if they will keep the card or whatever and I don't want bad things to happen! I need to pay for the shipping though, normally!

Should I return the item back? And I am really surprised they offered such quick fix, this is why I am somewhat afraid and I never sent back anything!

Hi,

I don't think you can get better temperatures with the current pre-installed aluminum VGA cooler on the HD 6770. In fact many HD 5770/6770 videocards with a similar aluminum VGA cooler are getting similar temperatures you are having now, i.e. around 70 degrees celsius at full load (maybe 2-3 degrees higher or lower, depending on room temperature and what PC case you are using).

As for that K82D VGA cooler, well, I think you will get better/lower temperature with that, probably it could push the temperature of the GPU to mid 50 degrees celsius at full load, depending on what PC case you have and what thermal paste you are using. It's a VGA cooler with direct-touch heat-pipes after all, so good temperatures are to be expected.

At full load the gpu I have goes to 100C or even more
I have downclocked the card already which goes from 66-70C
I don't think this gpu is cooling at all, but I might buy the cooler after all

From the review I see the guy is using a 4730HD which is not listed at all on the specifications
I think mine will work too and lowering around 20-25C is quite a lot!

70C is cold for a GPU.

120C is max for GPUs. you can run at upto 100C without problems.

sometimes its bceause of bad case ventillation. do you have a fan beside the GPU?

Nope

When the gpu reaches 80C the system shuts down, so it could be bad production of the fan I dunno
I tried everything possible, there is no other way than replacing the fan with a better fan

See if you can find a Gelid Icy Vision cooler around. They are generally not to expensive and work great.

I think it is not worth sending it back, because the items bought on ebay don't have any guarantee of returning back after 45 days.
Also, since the temperature is the real problem, I would be better off with a better cooler, so I will give it a try.

The card is already a reference design

then i suppose its either bad contact with the sink. mine runs at 84C during the summers without breaking a sweat.

also have a friend with an xfx 6770 that runs hot at 80C, but no such problems. have you tried replacing the thermal paste?
