I got a new 7950 IceQ edition yesterday. I haven't been PC gaming for a while, so I can't remember what's normal. But in the games I've tried (Crysis, AC: Brotherhood, Far Cry 3) I can see a bunch of stuff (particularly shadows) rendering whenever they're 20 feet in front of me.
It's annoying.
My card is NOT overheating because I keep very good control of my temps. I'm running Catalyst 12.12 BETA (the same happened on 12.11) as well as CAP1.
Running Furmark shows no visual errors, neither does MSI Kombuster.
However is there a tool I can use which will definitely use all 3GB of my video memory and make for sure that there aren't any hardware problems whatsoever? Games are obviously difficult to judge for the above reasons.
Is hardware failure likely to be related to draw distance? I can't see how it could be tbh... but then again it seems fairly consistent. Or is it just that recent AMD drivers suck?
