drive encryption/copyright

Not sure if this in the right place but i looking for a way to put files on a removable hard drive or flash drive to lend to people with read permissions. But want to prevent people from making copies. The only way i can think i encrypting the files to the hard drive serial number or unique volume number. Anybody any ideas.

you could make the files read-only, but you;d have to hope that the people viewing the files are ignornat enough to not know how to fix that.

i know theres a way to make a file read-only w/o having the option of taking read0only off, but im not sure how they do it

There isn't a way. Data is data, and all data is computable so all data is copyable.
