I first tried my old T5 PORTABLE SSD ,then tried a brand new Crucial X8 Portable SSD both of them came out with the same error at the same point. o_O I am now checking for errors on my new Crucial drive ,i think that is going to be a waste of time as it is a new drive. And it is going to take ages to check for bad blocks on Rufus ,it has takin about 10 minutes to get to 25%.Why am i haveing these problems with Rufus?I got it on a flash drive easy enough, i could not see the drive in the boot menu i pressed one of the USB .things on there It did show that it had been written to the flash but could not see it in the menu when you pick a drive to put Windows on.It seems the only way to get it on a SSD is to put it direct on one of them with Windows to go with RUFUS.Is the problem with Rufus?o_OAny one else had this problem?I stoped the test ,and tried again it stoped at 12% :rockout:

I have tried a older version like in the video but still does not work :( I have been using Windows to go am i right in thinking you have to use that to make it bootable? From my AIadviser
Windows does not support the installation of its operating system on disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port. This limitation means you cannot install Windows directly onto an external hard drive or USB flash drive using the standard Windows Setup wizard.
So i am right it will only work with Windows to go:(.
i am confused the guy is saying it can be bootable with Standard instal? o_O

it has stoped at the same point it has at other times. And this is with Standard instal :rockout:

I haven't used Windows To Go for ages and when I did, it was Windows 10 Professional on old laptops and desktops with MBR partitioned drives, not GPT. In addition, the computers did not have Secure Boot or TPM enabled in the BIOS. I didn't use Rufus, but instead I think it was used WintoUSB. It cloned my existing Windows 10 Professional boot drives on to Kingston Ultra Fit 64GB USB memory sticks. The result was bootable USB drives with all my programs pre-installed, because I'd cloned a working drive over to USB.

If you set Rufus to MBR instead of GPT (which only becomes essential for drives bigger than 2TB) you might have more luck. There are loads of guides on how to use Rufus to create bootable Windows to Go drives.

In the past, Microsoft talked about the requirement to use Windows 10 Enterprise or Windows 10 Education with Windows to Go, which presumably ruled out Windows 10 Home and possibly Professional unless you got clever.

Another thought. You might have more luck if you install Windows with a Local Account, instead of a Microsoft Account. Try using a Windows 10 Professional ISO with Rufus instead of Windows 11. It should be easier to set up Windows 10 with a Local Account, whereas the latest Windows 11 ISOs make Microsoft Accounts almost obligatory during initial setup.

All download links available on our website lead to genuine files only.? Download Windows / Office | AS I have just tried it again and came up with this message with Windows10 about it says this is a non reputable source ?From the site above so how come it is bad according to Rufus? recommend by someone on here. And why does my T5 Drive and a new Crucial x8 portable drive fail every time with Rufus?
