Im having this issue with the one of my monitors flickering and i have found out that its due to the card idling at single display clocks of 157/300 Instead of the dual idle speed of 400/1000. My question is has anyone been able to get their cards to run at the proper speed with 2 monitors installed? I know that a temp fix is just to run my card in 3d mode all the time but i dont want to unless i have to. Any information on this topic will be appreciated.

Well the only fix ive been able to find is not to overclock your card or run 3d mode always when running dual monitors.

Everything that ive read suggests that RBE isnt fully functional on the 5000 Series of radeon cards yet so i think im stuck with no overclock or force 3d.

Benchmark Scores Meh benchmarks.
Only overclock the ram though CCC and overclock the GPU though another app. Unless your willing to try flashing it.

I have the same issue with my 5970 and 2 displays. The issue will only show when i overclock the GPU's. I have seen threads on ATI forums stating this same problem but no resolution. I am no longer using my 2nd display until i can find a fix for this problem.

im still using my two monitors i just use MSI afterburner profiles. A stock profile for surfing the web which keeps my card at 400/1200 2D mode with dual monitors and another profile at 975/1275 for playing games like Dirt2 which force 3d mode with dual monitors. No flickering doing it this way just a pain that i have to switch profiles.

Yes we have the same problems of course --

RBE is not modified to be compatible with the 5xxx series,.. but I have used it with great success to modify my own 5850 to bump the 2d idle clocks to stop this very problem without having to use programs at startup like Afterburner,.. or AMD GPU Clock tool.. or any other memory tool.

Load up RBE (if you've used it before), and move your bios over to it just to look.. you will see the various clock setups that are built in.

There aren't very many .. IIRC there are 3 or 4.

I bumped my 2D to 200/900 -- It seems, for me, the memory clock needed to be quite high at the 2D level to stop all signs of flickering from a bios perspective. Using just AMD GPU Clock tool,.. I could lock it in at 300/500 or some such and it seemed to do the trick, .. but as I said I am more comfortable with less hassle, set it in the bios and forget about it.

I am in no way condoning using RBE to modify your bios, as it obviously has its inherent risks.. just that it IS possible, and as others have said the 3rd party programs should get you by on the temp.

Hi, I solved the problem by using the AMD GPU Clock Tool instead of ATI overdrive or the MSI tool (which looks good, but doesn't take care of the 2D power saving mode).
It was only occuring when I tried to overclock the card, it does not occur if you take the factory settings.
