They've been getting a lot of grief lately over the overtly sexist nature of the game.
They may be toning it down a little, but there is nothing specifically said/posted that confirmes this.

They know it will be released as 17+ (Mature) and the devs had said that the sexism and the objectivication of women is the whole point. The intent is to be goofy and push some limits in areas that people are not particularly comfortable.

I don't really care, not planning on getting it unless the reviews are absolutely stellar.

It's funny that nobody takes Duke Nukem seriously today. Well it's actually really sad. However I'm sure this delay didn't surprise even those who've been living under a rock.

A company that doesn't take 12 years to make a game is better, especially coming off a great title like Borderlands. And DNF isn't a fluke, Prey also took 11 years to make.

Well they didn't actually work 12 years on DNF. Most of the things was already done in the first 2 years. Yeah prey I know. But anyway at the end of the day prey and Duke are great games. 3D realms were out of luck but I'd rather wait for a cool game for ages than have a game like fifa or ff series which release "new" episode every year.

starcraft II and Half life 2 are perfect examples of games long in the making, that became huge sucesses.

wasn't BL forced out the door ? ( graphic wise ). just shit came down push or shove. And to be honest the rest of it was not finished either just like there other games of there's.

Sure GB would of got it out of the door faster but i bet if they made the full game the game would not be a 1/2 a good as were getting.

Sure it too 3DR a hell long time but still deserve most of the credit.

Duke Nukem Forever isnt 11 years in development. Several pieces of game design has been canned throughout.. I doubt if it even has hints of the original planned game design intact from 11 years ago. All they would do is just add big guns, T&A, and theyre good to go.

The thing that ruined DN:F for the original team was the over-zealous management who scrapped 2-3 years of work every time the market advanced. Eventually it got insaaaanely expensive and got put on the shelf.

Until Gearbox too it down of course

So I highly doubt the delay is caused by the developer team writing a new engine for the game

Comparing a game thats been talked about spanning 3 decades now, to a sports game that released yearly is kind of a big gap there.

I don't think it was, I was happy with BL's graphics, actually they were more impressive than I had expected from that art style.

Sure it was, just a lot of what was originally made might not remain. But they started working on it that long ago, despite what remains, beginign work on something means, they were in development.

Half-life is just another overrated piece of .... mediocrity and nothing more. DOOM 3 was and is much better but unfortunately it wasn't popular. Now it's scary that DNF will share doom 3 destiny because there's a flock of games called fear, bioshock, crysis, call of duty, homefront, bulletstorm ... and so on. I hope DNF at least won't become another Boiling Point, Daikatana or Anachronox. Great games ruined by nay-sayers and the masses with zero taste.
