Well after a bit of searching in anticipation for the release of Tiger Woods 09. I have come to find alot of PC sports gamers will be finding their favorite title has been cut as well.

EA plans this year to only release FIFA and NHL in the 09 season.:shadedshu

I dont really care for any bit of logic as to why this makes sence monitarily to them. They blame Piracy at some sites, and just explain in others it a loosing proposition.

IMHO most likely due to the megaflop of 08 CRYSIS!

Discuss, and voice your opinion on your favorite possibly being cut as well.

This is bullcrap. Only hockey and soccer?

Are they trying to piss off their American fanbase? Blargh. The new online Dynasty option for Madden/NCAA 09 would have been awesome on PC.

And not only to add, MMO would have been great on the PC (just like previous seasons).

+1, and really, sports games on the PC suck, this is one of the few area's where a console just is more suited for the type of game.

Well I like me some hockey. [man do i miss midway's NHL Hitz...if only they were for the computer and still being made], but I am also a fan of the Tiger woods series. Beautiful landscapes, not so great of controls, but still fun to play. Meh. I'll just stick to my FPS's on computers.

I agree that 08 will suffice for now, but the server will come down for the online community, then its LAN only. The way it sounds is that EA is stepping out of the PC sports market, with a few exceptions. So what then us golfers play 08 on LAN until we can play on the senior tour?

The only hope I can think of is EA may be finally upgrading these games and it takes a while. I'd rather that than the same stuff on the same old engine again. Who knows...:ohwell:

It didn't sound that way at all. Where does it say the servers will come down for the online community? It seems logical to me, that they would keep the 08 servers running if 08 is the latest.

Also, where do you get that they are stepping out of the PC sports market? They never even hint at that, in fact they state clearly the opposite:

we have no intention to abandon the PC as a sports gaming platform
It seems to me that they have decided, that instead of releasing the same exact game every year with just a few minor updates, they are going to focus more on releasing major updates every few years. There isn't anything wrong with that, IMO.

I wish they would do the same for consoles too actually. But I'm sure they can get away with selling the same game over and over again every year with console gamers. And that fact is confirmed if you have ever been by a Gamestop on a day Madden is released. The console gamers buy the crap up like it is God's gift to video games. Of course, it is harder to pull that off with PC gamers, they tend to expect something more than just updated rosters for their money.

Ive been playing online with tiger woods for many years....as previous years have gone by, the servers only contracted to that game for 2 years from release. They then just pull the game and replace it with another. So essentially the plan would go like this. They would have shut TW07 online down a few weeks back to ready it for the release of 09 on the exact server!

Wow, I've bought TW 06 and 08 for the PC. I think 08 for the 360 was alot better and you can tell where the extra effort went into.

Sounds like I've been dumping money into someones pockets who dont care what platform I play on.
My rule of thumb for purchasing new releases:

If I like it I'll wait to purchase the full version every two years.
If I really like it I'll pay to have the newest version out.

Too bad EA is pulling out from the PC market, I am a huge SSX fan.

you have a right to feel that way, but what sucks here is it was anticipated to release. Everyone was under the impression it was to be released. Linkin even posts to neweggs assumption it was going to sell. Then BAM... gone...We decided not to.

That is why I think we are getting the dirty end!
