ea old games

ok this is the thing. now that i have my p4 working for oldies games i want to play NFS III: hot pursuit (the original). I found that my cd (one of the few original that i have AND NOT BECAUSE I LIKE PIRACY) it has FUNGUS. It doesnt work so i want to know if EA releases their old games for free like bethesda, rockstar or id

i should mentioned i tried that. even with a razor tried to pull it off but the disk still isnt readeable.

I am unaware of any games EA released free (except the original SimCity in a web edition). The Need for Speed Collection (includes disks and keys for 2 SE, Hot Pursuit, High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed, and Hot Pursuit 2) is probably the cheapest route to go:

EA giving things away for free? Like that'll happen. NFS3 isn't even listed on their site. They go back to Porsche Unleashed, but thats about it, so I doubt it very much you can aquire it for free legally. Maybe with luck in a store, where they have old games, or via eBay.

I have the original on CD, and I've also made an ISO out of it to preserve the game... I'd give it to you, but that would be considered illegal, bah.

IMO i do beleive if you purchased a game legally, the company got the money at one time from your purchase and that if anything happens to the cd you should beable to dowbload another copy for the reason that its legitiment, because you still paid for the initial cd, its kinda like downloading music, if you have the CD its not really considered legal, atleast i remember reading that in some kind of legal case

ahaha. trust me, buying legal software here is almost impossible. if i could, i would buy original games but i cant, my parents wont let me buy off internet cause we dont have credit card and here you see about 1 store per square in the main street of the country selling illegal games. and you know what the goverment/police do?? I don't know the laws in your country, but if you download something you already own and have paid for, as something like a backup copy, it should be legal. I remember many torrent sites stating that you should only download torrents if you are in possession of the original material. (I had to download Tropico 2 because my disc was unreadable for whatever reason).
Also, it is for personal and non commercial use only.

ive been reading stuff on the net, dont quote me on this either, but it seems that you can not use a iso or someone elses copy to install on your computer even if you have your own cd with your own cd key....*Blinks*.....

this might sound stupid, but call EA and be like YO! i have this game....and this is my CD key is there any way i can get a replacement? dont want you getting into any kinda legal trouble over a old game

let me throw this in there too, LOL! i know some counties such as korea, china, have no laws on that stuff, i remeber when i was in korea, they would sell burnt pc and 360 games along with movies right out in the street on stands for 1/4 the price, lol

In USA, DMCA says libraries can make historical archives of digital content but it pretty much stops there.

Edit: There's been variations of a "fair use" bill floated around for years now which would allow consumers to make private backups of content. As far as I know, a "fair use" bill hasn't passed yet.

Most likely, your country (in Latin America) has adapted the WIPO recommendations (DMCA was created on top of WIPO for USA).


Frankly, I doubt EA cares about anything older than 2009 right now. Games only turn a serious profit in the first 3-6 months after release. Continuing to support them after that period costs more money than it makes.

I'm not sure on laws and all, but I quiet a few years ago had my car broken into and I only had the 1st cd of my BF2 game in there, and they took that and some other things... I have the 2nd cd and the keys, so I just torrented a copy and works like a charm, 1.50 patch made me sad though so I am just gonna stick to BF BC.

You could take the "damaged" CD to your local video store to clean it. Maybe they have the machine for that.

I have 3 and porsche unleashed disks around here somewhere. Tehy look like crap, really, I tried playing them and was so disappointed in the graphics I gave up.

All it takes is a constant supply of moisture and some spores. AFAIK, disks aren't sterile.

If you show me some proof that you actually own the original game (like photo of the CD with fungus on it and a piece of paper with your nick), i can make you a 1:1 copy. I have NFS3 original (without any fungus). Others helped me like this for scratched discs, so i can help you as well.
