never had issue with no connection for DRM's, but i suppose if ~Never~ was your internet connection status, it might generate issues, but im open minded enough to realize just cuz its never happened to me, that it still may be a issue for others.

I have no real complaints about Steam. Honestly, never had. Why would I even?

However, EA doing EA stuff is a different matter. Overkill on DRM front and if you need to be online to play single player game is what brakes it to me. I am not against DRM itself, but sure, would be way simpler if all was the GoG way.

That is why I said the GoG way
After all, it is their whole shtick, together with old and mostly abandoned games by often dead game studios, yet which people would still love to play. I remember the annoying PoP series DRM, which simply does not work on newer OSes, and thus needed the NoCD treatment - a pretty good argument against DRM. Because, what happens, if game activation servers goes offline after, say, 5 years?

I think you missed what we disagree on. We don’t disagree on the drm-free games existing on GOG. He just thinks it is a waste for those of us that keep all those drm free games we own downloaded at home.

He has the ultimate faith that they will always be available. I have no faith in mankind’s duplicity and feel that my insurance is necessary.

To be fair to Valve I think that once steam verifies the license for whatever game you want to play, as long as the game doesn't require an always on connection, you're good. As for EA the games that they put out like crysis (personally one of my favorite franchises) generally get much better performance over time at least on pc, don't blame EA for shit performance. However the business side of them absolutely sucks, and origin is the biggest POS ever. Finally for Sony, if you don't like what they do then vote with your money, just don't pay for PS plus. I personally think that the games that Sony gives out for free on there are well worth the subscription, however I'd rather that they stuck with giving you the license outright like Xbox does instead of requiring you to keep your PS plus sub. Everyone's got their own opinions on how every company is, and the most powerful way of voting you have is your money.

That's cool, but if you abruptly crash, there's a good chance Steam will forget it's offline mode. This mostly sucks if you don't always have a connection.. like what happened to me recently (internet blackout/maintenance.. Offline mode was keeping me entertained, then I abruptly crashed and was screwed).
