Ryzen 5800x is on my pc at -30 in curve optimizer but still get's my atm moment 1 fan cooler master hyper 212 evo v2 (case fans 1 x 120mm artic p12 and 2x 140mm p14, higher rp than my be quiet shadow wing 120 mm fans) working hard

In a game like horizon zero dawn temps is just above 75c, which i think could be lower with a better cooler

I do have some extra coolers but i have some problems with them, i like my dark rock pro 4 but not for mounting

I need to take my gpu out and mabye my motherboard since the fan in the middle can't be connected with the gpu in the case, also i can't see the holes on the fans at the top of the case + the space is tight for my hand

Scythe fuma 2 is easy to mount but the middle fan has some high pitched sounds and i don't think even with the new higher rpm fans, it's good enough to cool my ryzen 5800x

An aio i would love to use but i don't like the noise from the pump, theres no aio that has a 100% silent pump

An easy to mount air cooler (mainly the fans) that is better than a cooler master hyper 212 evo v2 that doesn't costs as much as a premium cooler like the noctua nh-d15 and be quiet dark rock pro 4

If theres a 120mm fan that is noticeable better than the stock cooler master fan. i could try that fan

I use a CM hyper 212X with my ryzen 5 5600..
the load temps go from a average of 75 C to 80 C....i replaced the stock fan with

1. Dual Cooler Master Xtraflo 120mm fans
2. Dual Deepcool gamer storm 120mm fans
3. Dual Cooler Master Sickleflow 120 V2 120mm fans since nov 2022...

the Xtraflo fans were the best followed by Sickleflow fans..

Testing the cooler on my old FX 8350 system...with Xtraflo fans...

Testing on ryzen 2600 system with deepcool gamerstorm fans..

Deepcool gamerstorm 120 non rgb...

I currently use CM Sickleflow 120 V2 fans....

Noctua NH-U12A with Dual fans would be ideal...

Forgot to mention when i used 2 fans i did have have them the same hight and they where above the top of the tower, since i can't have the rear fan lowered so it covers most of the tower (heatsink on the mb)

Instead of buying a 360mm aio or something expensive (double of what i want to do) i want to get some better thermal paste than the one i use Noctua NT-H1 and the best premium 25mm fan (don't want to pay what a phantek t30 costs also it's to thick for the brackets on a hyper 212 evo v2)

what can you recommend ?

I'm using DR4 and the temps I get are around 63C nowadays, that's with -15 to -7 on cores, no boost override. 68C+ is only with a heavy multithreaded load.

You mentioned CO, but what PBO settings are you running?

Easy to mount cooler for a ryzen 5800x

I say Noctua NH-U12A, easy to install and also the benefit of this cooler is that it isn't getting in the way of your system memory, also memory height isn't an issue.

I use this cooler for my i7 12700K, it's a great little 120mm cooler with 7 heatpipes which performs like greater coolers.

Currently the best bang for the buck air cooler out there.

Thermalright says the ram clearance height is 46mm.

Also you probably can't access the memory when this cooler is installed.

Also be sure your new air cooler fits with your motherboard (vrm cooling).....

(At first I wanted to buy an Asus Z690 board but found out my NH-U12A wouldn't fit because of the vrm cooling blocks....)

You can access the memory on both PA120 and FC140, at least using G.Skill Trident Z. But you will have to take the front fan off if you need to. Not a big deal really.

Most asus z690 mb is fine with a nh-u12a https://ncc.noctua.at/coolers/NH-U12A-8/motherboards/ASUS/LGA 1700

Im not gonna pay premium price for a nh-u12a

3x as much (3 Thermalright-Peerless-Assassin or 1 noctua nh-u12a ?) https://www.amazon.de/-/en/NH-U12A-Premium-Quality-NF-A12x25-Performance/dp/B07PN4RDW3/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1K0OXBVZKDFO1&keywords=noctua+nh-u12a&qid=1675869163&s=computers&sprefix=noctua+,computers,90&sr=1-4

One of my problem with my dark rock pro 4 is i have to take my gpu off and the fan clip keeps falling of + the space on top of my case

Here you can see there are better fan clips that goes longer into the holes and the fan in the middel can be mounted from the top not only the side as the dark rock pro 4 (they need to work on that for the dark rock pro 5 which i imagine is the next be quiet top air cooler)

+ im gonna try som artic mx-6 for only 10 euros for 8 gr https://en.overclocking.com/review-arctic-mx-6-thermal-paste/4/

Noctua coolers are in overall pretty easy to install. They also include a screwdriver in case you don't have one.

And they are practically compatible forever as you can get new mounting hardware in the future for free if you have the receipt (or like for 10EUR/USD).

It was more that big cooler above 120mm tend to be challenging to mount, since some have a width, size that makes it hard to get your hand between the cooler and the top of the case and with bad fan clips they keep falling of the fan.

I want to avoid taking my mb out of my case

You have the same case as I do. My cooler is 166mm and no problem with fitting it.

edit: Ah, you bought a cooler already

Good choice - Just installed a couple on 5800X3D. Yes, you will have to remove the front fan to access memory, I decided to omit it entirely as it seemed unnecessary for my application. Also, I believe the TF7 that comes with the cooler is comparable to MX-6.

It's actually a good cooler and easy to mount fans since your not limited or challenged by a wide tower and fan clips that keeps faling out of the holes before it's mounted to the tower, a ryzen 5800x is just a little hareder to coole because of a single ccx

In a game like horizon zero dawn temps is just above 75c

During gaming my i7 12700K gets around 60 degrees with my Noctua cooler, the i7 12700K has a higher TDP than your 5800x but it can run upto max 100c so I would have some more room to play with.
Your 5800x will throttle at around 90c (Max. Operating Temperature (Tjmax) 90°C).

I think one of the bigger issues is the density of the 5800X, where a good cold plate makes more difference than the size of the finstack.

Agree here. 212 was a great cooler for its price years ago, but it's not that good anymore as there are better options in that same price range.

Maybe not entirely a POS , it works and that's it, if you want to see lower temps you'll need a better quality cooler.

I think one of the bigger issues is the density of the 5800X, where a good cold plate makes more difference than the size of the finstack.

A 5950x with two 8 core chipsets, a 5900x with two 6 core chiplets and a 5800x with one 8 core chiplet all have the same 140W PPT target

It's simple to imagine that a 5800x having the wattage of both CCX's shoved into just one is going to be harder to cool and fussier about the heatsink contact on top.

You can either fight with a really high-quality cooler to get the contact exactly right... or tweak the PBO values and stop the chips from sending so much power out

Im trying to do both

Again it's good but i now know you get much more bang for the buck with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE for 42 euros, had i have to buy a better fan like the notua nf-u12a fan or the be quiet silent wing 4 it woul be about 30 euros with no shipping
