I don't think any AMD cpus support DDR3, maybe the phenoms do but I dont think they do

The 45nm Phenoms will support DDR3, however I am still a bit curious about the new Phenoms right now because since they don't have much L2 cache they need all the memory bandwidth they can get. 1066 DDR2 is definitely not enough for them.

45nm Phenom support is technically possible on any AM2, AM2+ board. It's only an issue with the manufacturer, no manufacturer has 'guaranteed' it yet.

45nm Phenom and the 790GX should finally solve the problems of the phenom

ddr3 isnt supported by any amd cpus maybe the 45nm phenoms will but there is no boards yet

i thought ddr3 was meant for the new AM3 socket

They are. So far, AM3 socket is supposed to have the same 940 pin layout with connections to DDR3 DIMM slots or DDR2 slots or both. Since it's a function of the IMC, we've to wait and see if there are "DDR3 only" processors or "DDR3 and DDR2 supportive" processors. Again, for your current AM2/AM2+ chip to run on a AM3 socket motherboard, it must have DDR2 DIMM slots since AM2/AM2+ chips lack DDR3 IMCs.

Well HP does use them and they are huge. ECS is really starting to become a good manufacturer now.

I checked the website

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=123&LanID=0

and it seems like this board actually has 128MB of SidePort memory. It's nice to see motherboard manufacturers finally spend the extra money to utilize this feature.

Its all about the IMC on AMD CPus, without onboard MC there is no Ram support, with intel moving to Nehalem, seems the MC on board is going to the by way, along with the traditional FSB.

It gives me epileptic fits each time I see every Joe, Larry and Moe call himself Elvis and I helplessly publish whatever is part of that. The Black Series from ECS does look promising though.

the last black series board was based on 780G and didn't even have chipset voltage control...i'll stick with biostar or MSI for now

actually the 45nm phenom and the SB750 (or whatever it will be when the 45nm parts come out) should solve the majority of the phenoms lacking computer power when compared with similar Intel chips.

I'll consider an ECS board when their current BIOS team falls on swords, and is replaced by competent coders.
