That's such false advertising if people have it and have time to review it and mention its not 800w and Newegg have done nothing.

Call them on it guys!

That guy's whole review is a big ass load of ridiculous FUD. What a moron.

Were this something else, everyone would laugh and point out that Newegg reviews are BS.

Total power is 800W, max output is 1080W. They're not false advertising, they're advertising the theoretical max output of the PSU, which unfortunately, it will never do, but they have the right to advertise it as that. It's not Newegg doing it either. It's the manufacturer.

Forgive me if I come off as a noob but I've always only used Antec or Corsair as PSUs. Is HEC any good and if it isn't, why bother/consider buying it? I mean, why the risk?

The product is called the HEC XPower1080 according to HEC's website. The manufacturer is not falsely advertising. The 1080 refers to its peak power, which is 1080W. Peak power is how much a unit can give for a short amount of time. How short of a time? Maybe five minutes, maybe 5 seconds. Who knows. Newegg clearly on their site says 1080W continuous power, which is incorrect. This is false advertising. But that's such a harsh term. How about mis-advertising instead? The actual continuous power does not equal the total amout of power each rail can supply because <most> PSUs aren't rated to deliver 100% on all its rails simultaneously. The continuous power rating on this unit is not mentioned.

Forgive me if I come off as a noob but I've always only used Antec or Corsair as PSUs. Is HEC any good and if it isn't, why bother/consider buying it? I mean, why the risk?
HEC? Never heard of them. I wouldn't chance it. Stick to Antec and Corsair. (and other reputable PSU vendors)

It is not false advertisement. It is selective advertisement. They are advertising what they can "brag" about. If you look at the preview images, it clearly states 800W Total Output, 1080W Max output.

It would be the same for a TV to say "true 1080p resolution", but then you read specs on the TV and it says "1080p for 1080p input only". Legally, they can do that. Technically it means the TV will only output 1080p, not decode it so it will only work with a PS3, Blu-ray player, HD cable box with 1080p output and would not upscale anything. While legal, it is a douche move.

I don't trust HEC because they only rarely make good PSU's and they do this crap all the time. Don't buy from them.

PSU's, stick with Corsair, Antec, SevenTeam, apparently XFX, PC Power and Cooling, and some others with only a few crap products like Cooler Master, Rosewill, and BFG Tech.

I personally trust these guys for PSU reviews. Read a few of their PSU reviews and you will see why.

Newegg clearly states that the unit can provide 1080W continiously, which is not true. It's not misleading, it's not true.

Well if it bothers you that much, e-mail them and they will correct it if need be.

The listing for the AMD Phenom II 940 and 920 stated they were AM3 chips when they were released. I was among the people that complained about that and it was changed within 48 hours.

And it will deliver 1080W continuously....for about 4 minutes. lol

I bought a 650watt HEC psu and it looked kickass.. but performed shitty.. If i left my machine on overnight i would wake up to login screen from where it restarted.. or even worse BSOD. At the time i was only OC an E6400 @ 2.6GHz and thous chips could handle well into 3GHz. Stock was 2.4GHz.. After that I bought my Corsair 750tx and haven't looked back. I do like Antec and PC Power and Cooling. I only went with the Corsair 750tx for the single rail and it was on sale for $110 /free shipping. Just my .02 i'd stay away.
