EKWB helps wrap up our current roundup of CPU water block reviews with its flagship EK-Quantum Magnitude. This is a highly customizable block that uses a socket-specific design with high flow, and excellent thermal performance, but comes at a high cost.

Once again a stupid premium for a block that is only .5 degree cooler than a block for 1/3 the cost.

I've been a bit confused about the block having two inserts with the default making the plate convex (my EK block is the same way). Are the IHSes on CPUs that bad that they are all concave or does it vary by CPU and you have to measure it?

A CPU IHS tends to be flat or slightly convex as does the CPU block cold plate. That way the mounting pressure from the corners makes them mate from the center going outward to spread the thermal paste evenly. Socket-specific blocks do model the IHS geometry more than others.

If you don't like it, don't buy it? A Tesla is also as fast as an Audi RS4, but it doesn't make it a good car, or a car for everyone's liking.

Hi,
"socket-specific" to
Some not on the reviewers list are better not only cooling but half the price plus supports all intel sockets not just one per socket
This is just so lame and pretty much why ek is going down the tubes, pun intended

At least the cold plate looks a little smoother.

I don't get the prices from EK. The company is in Slovenia, but I can't find confirmation that their manufacturing is there and not in China. Alphacool is in Germany and doesn't charge nearly as much as EK.

I'm not a water cooling snob - my last couple of GPU blocks have been from Bykski because they were the only ones I could find to fit my cards. They've worked great. EK looks like great hardware priced well beyond diminishing returns.

They have the brand name, market penetration, name recognition, and desirability factor to command the prices they charge. It's the nvidia, Rolex, apple, BOSE situation. In the past companies like SONY have held this. Things are never priced based off how they actually perform. They are priced entirely off brand name/recgonition and desirability. Pricing it beyond diminishing returns helps raise brand desirablity and brand value. There's you, and then there's the shit for people who can't afford you. That is the best place to be in the market.

Alphacool's production is in China, Aquacomputer's and Watercool's in Germany.

That's why Alphacool's water coolers for graphics cards are as cheap as Bykski's.

Everyone except EK and Optimus produce water blocks in China.

And TechN. My AM4 block is made in Germany. But TechN is a more boutique-like manufacturer than the others.

Seems like they still sell their stuff but it's been a while since a new product has been released, and their social channels are silent since late '22

Just ordered a complete EK custom loop system, which includes an EK Quantum Magnitude Nickel+Acetal 1700 water block. I may consider Optimus signature series water blocks when the intel 15th gen arrow lake comes out later this year, but for now I'll enjoy my EK magnitude for my 13900KS. I've paired it with Two EK Quantum Surface X480M radiators and an EK Quantum Kinetic TBE200 D5 pump/reservoirs combo.

Thanks for the review!
