So I went looking and couldn't find a Morrowind thread. So I thought I would kick one off.

You want to know one of my favourite parts of Morrowind..?
The music!! The memories!!

Do people mod morrowind much? I have done a little but not much. There is something about vanilla Morrowind that just does it for me =)

The menu music is amazing indeed. This was the first Elder Scrolls I've played and while I never finished it (I have this thing where I almost never finish these open world games), but I still have very fond memories of it. From finding almost magical islands, all those Dwarven ruins with robotic creatures, that floating rock prison, all the sandstorms that catch you while wandering around, finding camps in the middle of deserts in hard sandstorm with hardly any visibility, exploring caves under the central island volcano. Or just the few first quests where you have to get rid of some rats in a tiny settlement and you encounter the zombies instead. So many amazing memories. Far more than later in Oblivion or Skyrim, though those two also have tons of memorable moments.

This is the game they need to remaster! I would love to play this on an updated engine with wonderful graphics.

You beat me to it! Every single thing from sounds to each tree is being remade. And it is looking spectacular!

I played the beta Skywind release some time ago, but it seems that it came to a halt last year (no blog posts since October, and no new builds for over a year).
It looks absolutely amazing, but the developers are [were] mostly focused on the environment and visuals, but the gameplay is still the same as in Skyrim.
What I really want to see, is an old clumsy and overcomplicated character development system, levitation, teleportation, and constant effect artifacts.
Spellcrafting used to be much better too.

Skywind just had a new blog update with vids earlier this year. It's still in progress. It's so in progress that The Nexus has finally given it publicity. In fact, PC Gamer did a big spread on it not long ago as well. It's getting close.

That looks jaw dropping. Nothing like I remember Morrowind when I played it. And I did use certain mods to enhance the visuals, but nothing to such extreme extent. I mean, this looks better than Skyrim!

I'm also looking forward to Skywind! Something a bit different, but hopefully wont take away from the Morrowind vibe! That being said I still don't mind vanilla Morrowind every now and again to get my nostalgia fix..haha!

I recall spending shitload of time trying to get me a manor. I think I had more fun with it than with Skyrim.
