Decided not to wait for new cards, and got through the intro part that ends up dumping you in Skyrim.
Game plays beautifully on my 4870x2 on Ultra @ 2560x1600 0/16
The interface is easy to get used to, and pretty ... but blows chunks. It will be the first thing I mod out if something new comes along. I was not nuts about Oblivion's UI, but it was better than this one.

This game's a keeper. Goodbye life. lol

I had an interesting chat with a friend of mine today: He was saying that he just spammed enchantement, alchemy, and smithing...

1. Get enchantment, and enchant some + alchemy gear,
2. Then make and enchantment potion for a boost to enchanted items,
3. Then drink the potion and enchant some more (even better) + alchemy gear... then make even stronger enchantment potion...

Rinse and repeat. A bit tedious, but apparently you can make some insane stuff.

by the end of it you can make some +smithing gear, and drink the + smithing potion, and make WMDs.

Seems like you would waste alot of points in enchantment and alchemy... but would be interesting to give it a shot.

Might be a toss up: having a ton of points in heavy armor and two vs having some sick armor and thor's hammer...

I did that a couple days ago here is my armor is normal stat is 82 :D

Does anyone know where "Falkreath Hold" is? I have to 'liberate' it, but don't know where to start, there's no quest marker either, and no building named as such in the vicinity of Falkreath.
Here is a picture.

If you go to any city that has a Jarl these are inside you can learn them to your map.

Also if you didn't find the Fort i think its where my cursor is.

And me having some fun.

If you ordered from Amazon and they said you will have to wait till December they ended up getting some copy's and are shipping now!
Your estimated delivery date is: Tuesday, November 22, 2011 Can't wait!

In regards to performance, anyone figure a way to stop the game from cutting frames in half when you use the save menu, view the map or enter a new area (i.e. indoor to outdoor).

I reload the graphics driver which resets the frames to 60, but occasionally this method crashes to desktop.

I originally was gonna slay the DBH, but I thought where's the fun in that? So for the next few days of skyrim I will be assassinating people .. end game never seemed so far away for me, I've logged 94 hours on steam because Skyrim doesn't deserve to be closed or I just can't bring myself to it :roll:

Dirty too. It's a rough-and-tumble land and time but still...

So given the (well-deserved) awesome reception and sales (as many people definitely didn't seem as excited for this game as BF3 either but sort of apple-to-oranges) The Elder Scrolls series definitely has a further lease on life. And I'm seeing more than a few comments-perhaps all speculation but people sounded pretty sure-about how the next will take place down south in the Khajit province of Elseweyr.

http://tamrielchronicles.com/assets/EmpireOfTamriel.gif

I had been looking at that map before Skyrim came out and trying to figure where the next game could be. And it seems to me the only logical choice would be to have the next game take place in both of those lower territories. Skyrim works even though it's a bit smaller than Cyrodill, and it works because it has many vertical features. But Khajiti land just looks like a flat desert and a small territory, they would need to have another territory I think. But if they group those 2 together, the game after that is really screwed. Which almost makes me think maybe the story will be expanding.

I used this for about half a day, but then I was in Whiterun, and any time I went into ANY building and tried to come back out, it would just hang... I never get to read all of one tip/quote, but I was reading for over 5 minutes before I finally gave up, and started troubleshooting....

Yeah, I stopped using it as well. I really like mod managers, simply because mod deactivation is simpler then. But I noticed it wasn't loading some of my texture packs. I turned them off, then back on, redownloaded them and none of that fixed them. So I manually installed them and it worked, so no mod manager for me till it gets working better. I mostly use texture packs, so it isn't really needed yet anyways. Also not 100% sure on this, but it seemed like I got an fps boost when I stopped using the mod manager.

Supposedly often times foxes can warn of danger or show you something cool if you follow them.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that, will have to try following them.

I've spent hours working with the ini trying to get the most out of this game. I've found it's all about compromise with shadows, and some errors can't be fixed. The just turning shit off approach to fixing shadows looked worse than the bad shadows. Ultimately I came up with either pulling the shadows in to 1500 and putting iblur up to 5 and shadowmask at 4, which gives you the absolute range limit if you want shadows on your character to not look horrible... or pushing it all the way out to 8000 which make them so undetailed at close range that they look like blobs, which is more appealing then them appearing all jagged. The down side to that is blurred shadows shimmer a lot at range. I decided the short range is best overall. I'd rather have fade in shadows with detail than shimmery blobs.

For range stuff I was able to crank things up pretty far with this:
[LOD]
fLODFadeOutMultActors=20.0000
fLODFadeOutMultItems=20.0000
fLODFadeOutMultObjects=20.0000
fLODFadeOutMultSkyCell=1.0000
[Grass]
fGrassStartFadeDistance=25000.0000
b30GrassVS=1
fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=25000.0000
fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=1000.0000
[TerrainManager]
fTreeLoadDistance=300000.0000
fBlockMaximumDistance=250000.0000
fBlockLevel1Distance=250000.0000
fBlockLevel0Distance=35000.0000 (you might be tempted to raise this but it just makes mountains look like shit)
fSplitDistanceMult=1.5000

There's a cave near Whiterun that ends on a ledge that overlooks the plain. Good spot to take before and after shots to compare. Also never use the advance settings menu again because it will reset a bunch of the ini tweaks.

Good to know about the Manager Kurgan; I had just installed it but havent really yet done anything with it and I guess I won't be for now.

Though I can't tell to what Ahhzz was referring to exactly that made him hang. At first I thought the Google Map-like thing but then I re-read his post and just am not sure (the video references ten mods too so...)

also if you can find a dog to become a second companion to you they will bark when you are near treasure or hidden doors and such. they point at it and kinda growl. found one and it ended up leading me to a nice dungeon and it had some pretty nice gear in it as well.

There should be a quest marker for every quest, its probably a bug then if there is no quest marker on the map. You might have just disabled the marker.

Its good that you can use the wagon to visit some towns initially if you cant be bothered travelling yourself. Before i knew that i took the scenic routes and discovered quite a lot of places.

Well I tested the theory tonight and so far not so good, doesn't mean it's wrong tho. One I chased for awhile til it ran right between two mammoths and was killed with one nudge of the tusks (it was pretty funny) and the second tried leading me across a deep body of water. Aquafox!

I was on a quest and was fighting some Draugr Deathlord thing (one of the enemies in the background of the picture ive posted but much stronger) and it was really strong so i had to ice it with a shout and then paralyse it with a spell scroll.

I took a quarter of its health bar off after attacking it with dual swords but it ran off afterwords. I gave chase and 4 or so other enemies came out of nowhere... i turn round and this FROST ATRONACH PUMMELS ME. What did i do? Legged it hoping i could kill some of the other enemies first and take it on after.

Apparently you can conjure atronach or well they can so i just killed the person that did it and it vanished.

This game does throw some surprises. Wish me luck lol.

I got disarmed twice and i killed the thing that did it, so what is that my stuff gone because if so thats bullshit. Okay so i cant find the stuff but apparently all it does it make you drop your weapon, wasnt anything important just a skyforge sword.

Now im stuck again, this guy can one hit kill me so i cant be seen by him at all.

Im on a quest to find a staff for the mages college. Heres who i have to fight.

EDIT: The game glitched and he did NOT attack me when i sat back, so i just used long range attacks to kill him. LUCKY!

if you get disarmed should be right there, but can be knocked/fall somewhere and be a royal bitch to find.
The boss to get the staff of magnus is a bitch, basically gotta hit it w/ chain lightning a ton and not get hit, make sure you have a ton of potions going in.

I had one follow me around for a little bit in a dungeon, but it got killed pretty quick. I forget what killed it though; it might have been a dwemer centurion (that thing was a bitch to kill btw)

My game started crashing a lot after I did the LAA patch, so I un-patched it and it works fine again.

whats best to take out dwemer spiders, they seem way too hard to kill
I haven't came across anything other than a dwemer centurion, but lightning seemed to work better than fire or ice against it. Hard to tell though since I can't actually see the numbers.

Is that the mechanical spiders?

BTW i killed the guy for the staff, he never attacked me at range so i just spammed away till he died.

yeah, I used lightning but seems to take too much to take out the suckers that are around every corner. The drainhealth mace I have now might work better next time I encounter them compared to the frost sword I had before.

thats how I took out the staff guy too, just stayed up on the highest level spamming lightning, I'm wearing the mask now.
