Wow.....and you wonder why you're at level 10? Dovahkiin hideout has like 50 chests to store crap in, and its accesible from any house you own.

Dovahkiin Hideout has a great deal of storage but it's room and stair layout (for easy access to everything) leaves a lot to be desired.

I did NOT do the initial "Speak to the Jarl Of Whiterun" quest after arriving at Riverwood - And thus the "Dragons" portion of the game never started - and instead spent (Game)MONTHS just trolling minor quests and exploring and leveling up - and once I was around level 55'ish and had most of the toys and tricks and spells, and a pile of invisibility potions, and all sorts of other junk I FINALLY "Started" playing the game.

I did this a little with my Nord but not to any great extent (just a handlful of levels). Did you visit many main story line quest dungeons before you were "supposed to", and did it break any quests?
There was a lot of comment on that from people, especially the console crowd.

I think I will start over and do that. The new mage dude I started is already getting stale and I do believe it is because I know what to expect from the main quests and it just becomes an exercise in keyboard/mouse control.

I wish there was a quicker way of starting a new character than using save 001 and having to do the whole Helgen escape sequence. Oh well.

PS. I assume you just amassed shouts and had to sit on them until there were dragon souls to unlock them?

You can save right before you select your race, etc, but yeah, still gotta muddle through the "Follow me!!" crap...

I picked up my first two shouts that way as well... was really ticked off that I couldn't find any dragons.. Map showed a dragon here.. where's the damn dragon!!???

I made a new charachter, and then got tired of having to start over from the beginning if I wanted to see what a redguard might look like, and found showracemenu to quite nice. I haven't had any problems with it deleting my perks or anything like some people have complained. If you just wanna change the race, type, for example: setrace dragonrace. or bretonrace or whatever. I'm gonna try dragon priest, don't know if thats a race...

I've been having fun with my new charachter. I haven't done hardly any of the main quest. Just enough to get dragons flying around. I've taken it upon myself to rid whiterun of guards. Everytime one of them says something snooty to me I follow them to a quiet place and snipe em with a deadric arrow. I have a pile of 9 guards at the front gate, and they dont respawn for 30 days. if at all. I get a kick out of people coming over to the pile and saying, oh. what happened here? Or, such a waste... And there are always people sitting in the middle of the pile.

as for Ambient Occlusion

Todd Howards team already has REAL AO working in game, not halfassed shit we see from nvidia and ENB series, full Screen Space Ambient Occlusion was already demonstrated and was added to the engine itself which didnt properly support it.

So we could get AO in the future this is claiming?

And as for me and an Nvidia card the "think" was really only related to the "soon" because it's a kinda crappy time to buy GPUs both in terms of the market and the fact I have a big vacation to Europe coming up in two months for which we are still saving.

Todd Howard and all of bethesda got together for a week and brainstormed some serious ideas

among them,

dragon mounts, SSAO aka Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, Spears, mix different spells to make new spells rough example summon skeleton + fire = summon flame atronach etc, there are alot of things they want to try and bring to the game

I'm finding the game on my second character much easier than when I was on my first character. Probably it's because on my first character I was way too random, didn't plan on which skills to develop etc. I was playing one-handed, destruction, sneak, and then later discovered archery. In some cases I had to put difficulty on lowest just not to get pwnd A sabre-cat would kill me at one blow.

This time no. I planned my character's best points ahead - light armor, sneak, archery, smithing. Oh and dabbling in alchemy and enchanting when I feel like it. This character is much more efficient. I've got 100 in smithing, 80+ in sneaking and archery plus all the archery perks. And the archery/sneak perk which gives a further x3 damage when you shoot arrows in sneak mode

It's surprising what a difference character-planning has over the 'play-as-you-go' mode I did with my first character!

What could have I done wrong?

It says only to 'subscribe' and the mod will automatically get installed. Yet I don't see its esp. And certainly not in-game. No quest markers for the Stones of Barenziah.... no Sounds of Skyrim music, no city-lights at night

I screwed up my SKYRIM.ini. I added this per the NVIDIA guide

uExterior Cell Buffer=64
uGridsToLoad=7

But I cannot revert back to the normal setting without the game not launching. It runs like crap now too. Should have known better. Here is what I have done to no avail....

Deleted the file and let Skyrim make a new one.
Verified integrity.

Any ideas?

That's what screwed you up

If you saved while you had ugridstoload=7 then you can't get your save game to use the default ugridstoload=5......

Gimme a second I'll look up perhaps I find something..


EDIT: Here I found the solution from tweakguide:

if you save a game after you have altered this value, the new value will be incorporated into your saved game. This is worth noting because the game only allows you to load a saved game which has an equal or lower uGridsToLoad value than your current value; you will not be able to open a saved game with a higher uGridsToLoad value. This means if you lower your uGridsToLoad value again, you won't be able to load up the saves which used the higher value. So you should extensively test any change to your uGridsToLoad before committing to saving the game. If you need to revert a change in uGridsToload in an existing save game follow the steps below:

Start Skyrim and load up a saved game.
Use ALT+TAB to switch out of Skyrim and back to your Desktop.
Edit the Skyrim.ini file as normal, modifying the uGridsToLoad variable to the desired lower value. Save Skyrim.ini and close it.
Use ALT+TAB to switch back to Skyrim.
Open the Command Console using the tilde ~ key and type refreshini.
Save your game to a new save slot, and it should now have the correct new uGridsToLoad value.

i know how to fix it just need mailman to hop on Teamspeak and ill walk him through it,

the above method is cumbersone and doesnt always work had it crash and corrupt save files, the proper method

set ugrids to the setting you had

load save game
once loaded
use ~ to open console
setini ugridstoload:general 5
hit enter
saveini
hit enter
refreshini
hit enter,

that save game is now fixed,

after that is done you need to set your ini file back to 7 / 64 to fix your other save games one at a time that you deem necessary.

TMM, do this, please:

- Put your ugridstoload back to 7 as it was when the game was working for you.

- Load your last save. It should work at ugrids 7.


Alt-tab out of the game.

- Find the Skyrim.ini file and remove the part which says ugridstoload=7.
Save Skyrim.ini and close it.

Alt-tab back into the game.

- Open the Command Console using the tilde ~ key and type refreshini.

- Save your game to a new save slot.


Your game should now work fine as it had been before putting ugridstoload=7.

i know what the issue, is as of the 1.3 patch and later doing any kind of ugrid edit creates a new skyrim ini in the games data folder, which contains more options then the default ini, after doing the proper fix saving the game, then deleting that ini should correct the issue, Ill just use team viewer later and fix for mailman, after he hes does some testing on something else with dave.

Doing an alternate playthrough with some role-playing. Lenneth Teir'Dal, Dunmer, came to Skyrim after being forced from Morrowind. First impression was being arrested and sentenced to death without a trial. Surviving that she traveled to see her kin in Windhelm only to find slums, oppression and hate crimes.

After enduring one too many deregatory comments from both guards and civilians she finally snapped and decided to join the Dark Brotherhood to start the murder.
