So I decided to join the alliance. But I'm mostly in federation territory. The right corner says hostile. Am I at any danger just traveling around and doing missions? And I got slaughtered by federation police. I guess I had a bounty. I was in warp and got pulled out and got whooped by them. You're in enemy territory, you usually want to stick with staying in friendly territory if you don't want that to happen and, even occasionally, a federation ship in alliance territory might still try to interdict you.

Yeah they will kick your ass, only way is to jump to another system when wanted and if the crime was minor like if you accidentally shot a friendly the wanted be for 8-9 minutes although if that ship dies you be wanted in that system for a week.

Only thing you could of tried would be to max your engines and put 2 pips in shields and boosted away from them until you could jump from them, btw when getting indicted if you throttle you will submit to it and take no damage to the drop or take your chance and fight the induction.

Look out for other text there too like if your carrying stolen items or such.

I personally liked the Cobra because it could boost away from just about everything fast enough to get out of weapons range before my shields dropped. Best smuggling ship I used. I gave up smuggling with the type 7 though, way too risky IMHO.

Finally upgraded to an eagle. Slowly upgrading. Ready for a fight now.

That's one thing I haven't tried much of is smuggling. Is it still pretty lucrative? I like my combat cobra but have been debating a MkIV Cobra for combat and MKIII for something else...smuggling might fit the bill.

@Champ the Eagle is fun, I miss mine! No good for exploring but fun in combat for sure! Have a good time with it, and if anything, I recommend keeping your old ships...I miss mine.

I think smuggling is much better with the 2.1 update. Lots more stuff to collect in "unidentified zones".

I am a little out of date with my Elite versions.. but 2.1 is the Engineers release correct? I am not participating in the beta...maybe I should. But I'm kinda hoping that we're close to official release knowing it has been a playable beta for a short while now.

I have never even tried to smuggle yet so maybe now is a good time to get into it.

It is good to be back in the game...I forgot how much I enjoyed combat. I did decide to ditch the beam for pulse lasers on my MKIII and I seem to be taking down bogies faster now. I'm chipping away at the rust that has hindered my skills a little bit, and having fun doing it...even with a mouse and keyboard still! My CH HOTAS is still on the shelf collecting dust.

I have looked into more detail what 2.1 is bringing to the table and it looks very promising indeed. I am tempted to load up into the beta...but hopefully I can just be patient and stick to 2.0 for now and work on building up my funds. I kinda want to get into a Vulture as my combat ship too...decisions decisions...

Been waiting for actual content, actual stuff that is more than filler RNG junk. It's starting to take shape...

Asp still makes a alright miner and traveler, it's alright in battles but i have not tried it in beta and they say the AI are harder now.

Kinda the same here, shame they have not revamped\ the missions, just changed how they are displayed which is good but still and some of them sound like more hassle than any thing else.

So make sure you have a scanner .

It's been so long since I consistently ran missions or did anything but hit up war zones and RES sites. I am interested in the Engineers and hopefully finding one that I can modify my weapons through. I really need to expand my horizons I just haven't felt motivated to...nor have I really had the time to dedicate to a major shift in how I play. Hoping I'll have more time to play soon though!

I should try more things in this game...but right now just sticking to what I know and can do fairly well. So far tonight I've done pretty well combat-wise.

I think this game would benefit from a Gran Turismo-style pilot course. I always liked Evochron's racing routes for such training. Not that I'd do them now...but I think it'd be cool to add.

Same here. I agree the AI needed a buff but they swung the pendulum way too far. Good luck to FDev but I doubt they'll be keeping any new players.

Well they got back to me already and they say it's not a bug so. I guess my ship will just stay flouting in space until they change it as i cannot be assed with this BS. If i wanted harder targets i be pissing of players.

As for new players o my as it was not a pain in the ass before the changes, game was hard to get along with to begin with now they have crazy AI to deal with which they cannot boost from 1/2 the time. Shi i was in a fully kitted out Python and could not boost out the way.

No idea when NMS is due, i guess it don't matter to me now.

Hmm...looks like I'll need to replace my shield cell which I forget to use always for a repair module...I guess I need to verify they have those. I thought either with that or a reboot procedure...hell I don't know and I'm drugged up from surgery lol. I'll go read up.

I will say what little i was able to play in solo last night the AI was a noticeably better challenge. But not too much. Though I was careful.

I also like the UI changes...makes it feel like it finally left beta IMHO.

Well if you look near the bottom of the list of options on the left panel there is a option to repair which will fix the ship to at least 1%, all so note that 3% of a shield bank went down a little too lol.

Yeah, reboot/repair takes health from other modules and gets the other ones working a little.

Well after a lot of BS with this new 2.1 here are some thoughts, The AI are all kinds of awesome to out right OP.

While jumping system to system due to missions, exploring or finding USS's to scan they are totally out of control and will blast you and move around in ways that are not even possible, keep hearing people referring to your shields as paper but feels worse than that some times although some good battles can be had still but if your a trader well you might be as good as dead as you cannot always boost out of their.

Some good battles can happen in Hi res's too, you can use the AI to your advantage by letting them do the 1st hit, well this is another problem it's frigging boring to some degree as your not getting a true battle with the ai your just using friendly's to help\kill them. Sure you can wait until there is some one low enough for your own personal skills but you could be waiting a hell long time.

Never go head on with a AI try to keep some kind of angle as they will spam shit right at you more so after being indicted.

Every thing else about the update seems ok, but if you were looking forward to the engineers well i hope you have a hell lot of time on your hands.
