Didn't know this existed. Many thanks. First time I'll have had a use for Skyrim since 2011. Still hoping for Skywind...

Skyrim definitely needs to be installed. CTD without it
Good to know. I was going by their extensive list of FAQ, where they specifically answer that. It is supposed to be completely self contained. Are you sure there isn’t a different cause for the CTD?

No man because I got Skyrim card when it crashed ;) Installed Skyrim all fine. It’s technically still an ..esm(Mod)

@rtwjunkie Something is confusing here:
3. How will the Steam installation of Enderal work?
First and foremost you will need a legal copy of Skyrim Classic or Skyrim Legendary Edition in Steam (no official DLCs needed).
It doesn't need to be installed, it's enough to own it.
Now simply download Enderal via Steam and launch it and you are ready to go!

Enderal will not work with Skyrim Special Edition (SSE). We might be able to port Enderal to SSE once development and bugfixing is finished, we simply can't split forces now.
They mentioned we don't need to install Skyrim, but then they claimed Enderal won't work with SSE. If it's self-contained, why would they even mention about Enderal not working with Skyrim SSE? And in bold too. A self-contained mod wouldn't need anything else, SSE or no. I might be wrong, but this seems to indicate that the mod needs Skyrim files. And only Skyrim files. It won't work with Skyrim SSE files because Enderal was based on original Skyrim, not SSE.

At least that's what I understood about that part. I might be wrong about that, though.

Oh, did I mention it’s FREE?
Sure, if we've already bought Skyrim.
Otherwise a purchase of a certain product is required. :D

Ohhhhh been on my watchlist since forever and had forgotten about it!

So which version of sky rim to install? The original one or the remaster?

TY!

Original apparently. I still need to download it.

Works fine for me without Skyrim currently installed.

Can't wait to get home and get this thing started!

For those looking for more Skyrim, Skyrim Together cooperative MP mod is out in closed beta, I played it a bit but its pretty crashy.

edit: PM me if you want to play it with me, it costs $1 on Patreon, they set it to monthly payment but per the developer team you can cancel it and still have access, I did. The group I play it with got frustrated by the crashes but I am still down to play.

Ok, I just tried it on my wife’s computer. She does not have Skyrim currently installed. The result:

Enderal installs and runs well in a separate game folder completely from Skyrim. Just as the mod makers intended. It merely check that you have bought Skyrim.

I can't customize my character or change the name, nothing I press will do anything. Other than to accept, lol.

Played it awhile ago. Excellent game/mod. At least in my opinion the environment, story and lore is 1000 times better than bland watered-down Skyrim.
I think I'm gonna give it another go, since the old version I played was kinda buggy.

I can confirm this. I have Skyrim (SSE, Skyrim Special Edition) but just to make sure: I renamed the Skyrim folder and downloaded/installed Enderal. Quit Steam, checked renamed Skyrim folder again to make sure (there's no such thing as too careful), ran Steam and... accidentally started Monster Hunter: World. I'm getting old.

But Enderal ran without Skyrim, SSE or no.

And now I understood what this part of their FAQ means:
Enderal will not work with Skyrim Special Edition (SSE). We might be able to port Enderal to SSE once development and bugfixing is finished, we simply can't split forces now.

It means in case you want to load Enderal as a mod in your SSE, it won't work because it's based on original Skyrim, not SSE.

Just installed the game without Skyrim, and it works. Basically it only requires Skyrim ownership (not the super-special edition, so newer owners are probably out of luck).
Graphics is more beautiful than I remember, but the stutter is also worse than I remember. Had to tweak some settings to get playable FPS at 1080p, but I still get dips from 90s to low 30s.
I've only disabled VSync, tweaked RAM and CPU manager a bit. Gotta look at drawing distance settings, maybe that'll help.
Also what I don't like is that the game settings are limited to 1080p, but devs wrote it was intentional due to optimisation issues, so I hope 2K and 4K will be enabled with the next patch.

Have you started yet? I’m looking forward to trying this afternoon.

Wasn't there a similar mod like this on Nexus mods? Some kid created an entire expansion then got a job with Bethesda because of it?

I have it downloaded but forgot to play! I slept when I got home and now at work again.. Later I will have a go at it. We have a one day off for Pres day. LOL hopefully I will be able to give it a go! And Skyrim as well, haven't played it since I've upped to 1440p territory! :D

* puts reminder alarm on phone * Ignore Apex Legend invites for a moment and play this! :D

That was set in the Skyrim world. You’re thinking of Falskaar, I believe.

This is a total conversion mod that runs separately and is in a completely different world. Basically they used Skyrim engine and assets, and then modded it to the max and all around their own story.

The game is definitely more buggy than I remember... Got to the first temple and now I'm stuck. Found a key to unlock the path, and when I'm jumping on top of pillars it just teleports me all over the place.
I think there is some bug with water shaders, cause I also have weird flickering when there is water on the screen, and control issues while swimming.

Though, I did fix my FPS problem. Had to lift up memory restrictions, slightly reduce draw distance and switch a few options from Ultra to High. Now it's in 100-200 range pretty much all the time, as it should be. Now it's time to look for whatever's causing the water and teleporting issues.

I’ve found voice volume is horrible. It’s worse than Skyrim was.
